Martin, There are plenty of NCP car parks around Manchester city centre so long as you don't mind forking over the dough! I'll ask my colleagues and friends to see if there's anywhere you could get away with parking and not have to pay - some of the roads nearer the Salford side of the city centre might be an option.

Re: Manchester Christmas Markets VT Meet

I could meet him somewhere and then run him into the city centre.
I will be parking at Victoria Station.

Re: Manchester Christmas Markets VT Meet

Then come by train, Martin. There's a couple of hostels in the city centre if you want to overnight it.

At a push Martin, you could always come and stay at our house, I have already got Suet staying. She will arrive Friday afternoon and leave sometime Sunday.

I'm a little ill at the moment but i hope to be better by the weekend - but it is all touch wood at the moment. Good to see you got a few people interested. When and where does everyone meet and where (I believe some may have met before)
If i come i will also come to Victoria Station. I think i will wear my green hat then everyone can spot me easy enough

Sign up to the Meet on the Meet Members, Members Meetings and Events page. The meeting time and location is on there but I'll be sending out an e-mail which will go to everyone who has signed up, with a reminder about the meeting location and other information.

Travel Tips for Manchester

If your other half is mad on...

by eurotravels

If your other half is mad on Man U and you’re not, a good place to kill some time and lots of money would be the Trafford Centre, a large shopping complex not far from the football grounds. There are maps and public transport information on www.traffordcentre.co.uk, All of the shops agree to comply with a Code of Practice giving shoppers rights over and above the law, for instance they are happy to take clothes back and give a refund if they don’t fit.

Property Fetish

by JamalMorelli

Will elaborate later -

Slowly realizing that people's homes approach the level of fetish and obsession, rather than just a place to live a significant life. The property ownership and maintenance (quite often) IS the significant part of their lives.

Open for revision.

A nice place

by Balam about Barton Arcade

Barton Arcade was was erected by Corbett, Raby and Sawyer in 1874 it houses shops and upper storey offices.
The arcade was the first building to be erected on the newly widened Deansgate. IThe cast iron and glass used to build it were produced at the Macfarlane Saracen Glass Factory in Glasgow, unfortunatly many of it's original shop fronts have disappeared as have the original decorative tiled floors.

The founding members of the Catenian organisation held their first meeting there in 1908.
