As usual, Ibis

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 3, 2007

Why you would take a room here is that it resembles every other Ibis. It's character is only that of the Ibis chain - clean, very comfortable, a quick and easy choice for downtown Manchester.

Unique Quality: Outstanding in it's uniformity to every other Ibis. What's kind of cool it that it's outside looks more industrial town than it's holiday inn looking inside.

Not a Bad Little Place

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on November 30, 2005

The rooms were fine...clean enough and on the larger side (by UK Standards)...showers/washroom a little weird as they are in a circular shape...feels like youre in a cubicle!
Other than that service was fine..there was a restaurant/bar in the lobby with reasonadble prices. Front desk staff didnt know to much about the downtown area....oh ya, no close internet cafes .....they are a bit hard to find.

Unique Quality: Price! One of the cheaper places..I think it was 25 sterling ea.....one dbl bed and one pull out.

Directions: Just outside of the center..by the University....well you can see it from the window...Ill find the address....there are though, TWO ibis's downtown Manchester...I only stayed at one of them but Id image they are quite similar.

Freezing cold at Ibis

Bad (2.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 18, 2004

This is the cheapest hotel in Manchester, but actually quite nice anyway. The service was good, and the breakfast was nice.

But the room were just as basic as they could be, and freezing cold. It was around 0 C outside the night I stayed, and even though I had the air condition on maximum (30 C) all evening and during the night, I was yet shivering from cold when going to bed.

City Centre Convenience

by written on November 9, 2002

Typical of this chain throughout Europe. Decent sized rooms, clean and comfortable and very conveniently located close to the city centre.

Unique Quality: There are 2 Ibis hotels very close to each other in Manchester. One is on Portland street, the other is on the corner of Charles Street and Princess Street.
The room rate is 43 pounds per room per night. Breakfast is 4.25 per person per day.

We stayed in the Ibis in...

by written on September 8, 2002

We stayed in the Ibis in Charles Street.
Very reasonable at £42 per room per night (not including breakfast, which is optional at £4.25 extra, but not very impressive. No fry-ups here!)

Unique Quality: This is simple basic accomodation. No tissues or hairdryer in the room. Shampoo/shower gel is provided, as is one tiny bar of soap, but that's all. Ironing facilities are available on the second floor. All rooms are doubles.

Directions: Close to where it's at, but the Portland Street Ibis might be better as it's nearer to Piccadilly Gardens where the shops are and costs the same.
