 | Jarvis Piccadilly Hotel Manchester: Ramada Piccaddilly Plaza

The Jarvis Piccadily is being rebranded (as of writing May 2008) as the Ramada Piccadilly. They are currently in the process of a major refurbishment, which is a good thing as for years this hotel has been a centrally located eyesore. Prices start at 57 per room, per night going up to over 100 Friday, Saturday and peak times such as conference weeks. The hotel is a fairly standard business class hotel consisting of 14 stories, a restaurant and bar and parking facilities on site. Rooms are of a good standard, with flat screen tv, comfy beds and excellent bathrooms with power shower and bath. They may be a little small for some people, but if you're used to European hotels this won't be a problem. Very clean, with good pillows (my personal gripe in many places) the rooms have been refurbished to a good 4 star standard though the site itself is still undergoing some upheavel. This simply means that the reception and hallways look a bit half finished and the building from the outside still needs cleaning.
Staff were very helpful. I'd made a mistake while booking that could have meant I'd be paying 2 nights rather than one, but they happily rectified it for me without complaints. Breakfast is an additional 11.00 per person. It couldn't be more centrally located, with shops, Chinatown, the Gay Village and Piccadilly train station on the doorstep. Has an unrivalled view over Manchester city centre. Parking in this area can be a real problem and not all hotels have their own parking. At the Ramada parking on site costs 7.50 from 2pm on day of arrival til 12.pm day of leaving, though it is up on the first floor, a bit awkward to access and a bit of a nightmare to exit.
