Reasonably priced accom near Piccadilly

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 5, 2013

Finding reasonably priced accommodation in Manchester for the Christmas Markets is becoming increasingly difficult, so I was very pleased that Gillybob did her research and found this place.

Booking well in advance, and paying up front (PrePay and Save) proved to be a wise move (A few days later, the price had rocketed) We paid £60 each for our 2 night stay (Fri/Sat) for 3 of us.

Located off off Picadilly, it is a 10 minute walk from Piccadilly train station. Near to the ring road.

Check in (From 14.30 and check-out before 11.00 ) was quite uneventful, we were issued with our 'key card' 1 between the 3 of us. An elevator took us to the 5th floor, where we walked along an outside walkway (with great views over Manchester to the Pennines in the distance) to our apartment for the weekend.

One twin bedded room with wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps (boiler room off this room with ironing board - which I used to store my case and boots) The room was quite compact! Also VERY warm!

Lounge/Kitchen area with double bed /settee, table and chairs, armchairs. Balcony
TV (with Sky Sports)

Well equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, washing machine Dish Washer - good selection of crockery, cutlery and cooking paraphinalia.
teabags/coffee/sugar.

We just made drinks here.
Plenty of places in Piccadilly for breakfast - Wetherspoons etc. The small cafe on the corner of Ducie Street advertised reasonably priced breakfasts but wasn't open on the Sunday morning.
Co-Op supermarket in Piccadilly or Sainsburys in Piccadilly train station.

Bathroom - Shower over bath/WC/Wash Basin Complimentary shampoo, shower gel.
loo rolls and towels provided.

Secure and warm (too warm at times)
Free WIFI
Internet near Reception
Left Luggage Lockers
Vending machine with cold drinks and crisps/chocolate bars etc.
On Site Car Parking

There were a few parties going on in rooms opposite, but didn't disturb us too much.
Gilly (sleeping in the lounge) was disturbed by lorries delivering to the retail park opposite in the early hours)

One criticism would be that one wardrobe for 3 of us 'low maintainance' ladies was not ideal for 2 nights in winter - coat hooks in the hallway would have been useful for our heavy coats etc.

Pack light or use the lounge as a spill over wardrobe area!

Otherwise, it suited me fine - I'd certainly stay here again and recommend to others for a reduced rate place to stay.

Directions: See Website for map.
From Piccadilly Gardens head up Ducie Street. At the small cafe turn left and follow the road on the R. side of the road. Opposite GoOutdoors is the entrance.
