Hated this place.
This place is nice. Nice and confusing to find your room, nice and loud in the hallways outside my room, nice and expensive beer/food.
After flying in on a Monday morning, I needed sleep. However, the hotel had other plans. The heating/AC system kept shutting off, people running up/down the halls, then they decided to test the fire alarm system! Now, I know that these systems need to be tested, but why couldn't the staff tell me that this was going to happen 4 hours after I checked in?
Unless you have a car, or can afford several taxis, your are stuck here. Bring your own food/drinks and save money.
Unique Quality: loud/un-caring staff
Opinion of Price: more expensive than average

Helpfulness
Marriot Manchester Airport
A typical Marriot hotel with nice big rooms and friendly staff. There is a decent swimming pool where I made a surprise appearance at 7:30am after a night on the sauce.
Alcohol prices at the bar weren't too bad but the bar food, although it was very good, it was also a bit expensive.
Unique Quality: Finding the rooms can be a bit of a challenge as the hotel layout is a bit of a maze.
Opinion of Price: about average

When we made plans to stay near Manchester Airport is was for the convenience of the hotel to the airport as we had an early flight back to the United States. We were very pleasantly surprised at the comfort, cleanliness, and excellent service of the hotel. When we checked in they said they only had a double room (which was fine for us) and offered a free upgrade to a suite. The room was spacious and the "double bed" was a king size bed anywhere else in Europe. The room was impeccably clean and the bath was bright and luxurious. They offered to make up the sofa bed if we wanted but the king size bed was more than sufficient for the two of us. We dined in the hotel’s Mendelssohn Restaurant which was quite good except for some overcooked vegetable on the side. We had free airport transportation from the hotel. I rose early 4:00 am. to get coffee from the coffee bar in the lobby. The normal barista was not available but the waiter in the coffee bar was willing to try his hand at the espresso machine. With a little coaching from me, I got a large coffee, dark and strong (the way I like it) with loads of apologies for his inexperience and refused to let me pay for the coffee. It was such a pleasant stay that I almost regretted that we could not stay longer at the hotel. I have always found hotels in the Marriott chain to be exceptionally clean and with good staff. The Manchester Airport Marriott is no exception. The upgraded suite was a pleasant surprise too!
almost a nightmare
by TripAdvisor Member grahamzxy
I just stayed here sat 26 august
I was at manchester airport, I phoned to ask about the shuttle the receptionist barked down the phone "where are you" then said go to stand 5 and hung up....stand 5 where I thought!!!
eventually I realised she meant stand 5 in lower of terminal 2 outside the arrivals lounge got to shuttle to airport at 730pm
the receptionist at the hotel scribbled on a map said your room is here, I asked about breakfast which I had paid extra for she said oh starts at 7am, as was a sunday, well my return shuttle was 7am so I asked to change.
Room was a nightmare, bathroom light flickered constantly, lucky I was not epileptic or a seizure would have occurred seriously had to have bathroom light on or a sign warned air con would not work in bathroom and fire alarm could be activated
shower would not go hot as i turned tap up slowly heat dropped then went to like steam and was power shower I jumped back one metre!!!!!
it steadily got worse, bed was comfortable but was only in airport 12 hrs
then I go for breakfast food was laid out nicely so I thought yes breakfast here we come, 7am I queued politely...then I asked to be seated....sorry sir came the curt reply can you come back please..!!!!!!! now my shuttle was going at 730 was now almost 705.
I had not eaten last evening due to high restaurant prices, breakfast was so so no way worth 14.95 UK Pounds
pretty poor overall, advise you be more vociferous than I was, diddnt want a scene just wanted a good nights rest and a shower then breakfast
what I got was several scenes from a brian rix farce......
Good quality and convenient for airport
by TripAdvisor Member widgey77
We stayed over night prior to a morning flight from Manchester to Cuba, so booked for convenience but were very pleased with the hotel. The quality is good throughout and our room was large, very comfortable and with a good sized bathroom. The corridors are a bit maze like but found our room in the end! The spa/pool area is lovely but did not get much time to enjoy it but spent a fortune on the Decleor products for sale - my favourite brand.
We dined in 'Players' restaurant which had a large party in full swing when we arrived but still found the service to be good and the food was excellent.
The shuttle to the airport was comfortable and very convenient. We did not take breakfast in the hotel but have heard from others that this is of a good quality.
We found the hotel to fit the bill on all points: good value for money, good quality, good food and not far from the airport.
OK except the food

We had an overnight stop here in readiness for our holiday flight from Manchester.
The hotel is OK but looking dated. The pool area is very good indeed. We had a family room with 2 double beds- again dated but clean and tidy.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and the Park & Fly scheme is excellent at very good rates.
The main problem is the food. Its was hideous. Many items not available on the menu, poor quality ingredients and took a long time to come. Breakfast was no better although buffet style.
We will be writing to Marriott regarding the food, but be warned!
Terrible unprofessional staff & poor food
by TripAdvisor Member ladyportrey
My friend and I stayed here in Oct06 for a night out round Manchester. The receptionist at check in was unfriendly and didn't have a clue what she was doing. She didn't give us any information on meals times or where the restaurant was situated. The room was quite nice and the beds were comfortable, however, the mini bar was empty and the cleaners had left a completed questionnaire containing personal information from the previous residents.
When we found the restaurant and went to dinner we were given a menu by the waiter (who smelt of really bad BO!). 5 minutes later he returned saying he had given us the wrong menu and we were on the ''cheap'' menu. This was unprofessional and embarrassing. I am not too sure about calling it a ''cheap'' menu when the food was appalling and not edible.
We then went to the bar and ordered drinks that amounted to £3. The bar attendant called through to reception whilst we stood there to check that we were who we said we was - again, consistently unprofessional.
The breakfast was a shambles and the shuttle bus that was suppose to leave at 7.30 didn't turn up until 7.55pm. I would have thought there is one thing they could get right is would be the shuttle bus as most people staying there are hoping to catch a plane at some point! Overall it was a shoddy set up and we would never return or recommend it!
Nice and Convenient

Only stayed one night but wish we'd stayed longer. Property is new, clean and well appointed; staff was friendly and helpful; beds comfortable; pool looked very nice (we didn't have time to go for a swim though); very conveniently located with only a 5 minute, free shuttle ride to Manchester airport. Would definitely stay there again. Only negative - room service breakfast was not that great.
Unreliable and outdated
by TripAdvisor Member oxley
Stay in Manchester alot for business and where possible will not be staying at the Marriot as it is so "hit and miss" sometimes you get good service and sometimes bad and sometimes a nice room and other times not.
On my most recent visit I was put in an awful room that was very outdated a bed that must have been at least 15 years old. A very thin sheet directly on the mattress. No underlay nothing just me the thin sheet and the old bouncy mattress with all the big buttons on the mattress poking through, it was a cold and sleepless night and for £135 a night !!!! I tried to speak to the front desk staff and expressed that I was actually a marriot member and was it possible to move they said there were no rooms left ( this was at 6pm )
Expressed my concerns to the Manager in the morning who apologised and said the older rooms still need to be done up.
The rooms that have been done up are indeed lovely but wouldnt a little bit of intelligence suggest while we they still have some old rooms and old beds to put some underlays on them and a duvet ( instead of grandmas bedspread) on them in the mean time ??
My suggestion is if you have a choice stay at the radisson as although their rooms may not be as nice as a marriot nice room they are all modern clean and of a high quality. The staff are always friendly and professional. you know what you are going to get but the marriot is luck and if you get a bad day then it is a real bad day !
Superb start to our holiday

We arrived early evening, still had plenty of time to use the great spa facilities 1st sauna I've used with a tv in it! Food and drinks were fairly pricy but I'm tight as they come and thought for the level of comfort and inclusive spa what the heck! Transfer was on time and around 10 mins max to airport , the return pick up no more than 15 mins wait. Saying that ,we were aware that the hotel was far from full so don't know if they keep that level of service up! We did book it at[----] for £99 over xmas period including 8 days parking on site not a field somewhere. Will Definately use again.
