Across the Street from Granada Studios

This was a rather interesting hotel - the décor and furnishings, although modern, seemed to hark back to the days of Victoria and Albert. There were statues and there was a definite tartan feel around the place.

The staff were professional and friendly and they had a good restaurant in the hotel. Located away from the city centre it is close to MOSI - the Museum of Science and Industry.

It is also next door to the studios of Granada Television. It seems that many people who visit Granada have stayed in the hotel.

Unique Quality: Comfortable and a short way away from the city centre area.

Fabulous Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member iddy8888

Stayed here only one night, but will definately be a regular visitor from now on. One of the few City centre hotels with its own car park (a major plus for me). Beautifully decorated throughout (apparently just undergone a 50 million facelift - and you can tell!) Our room on the 4th floor was very plush. Authentic brickwork and beams are a feature. Luxurious bedding, generous hospitality tray, well stocked mini bar, hairdryer, iron & board all in room. The bathroom was immaculate. First rate power shower, fluffy towels, plenty of toiletries. We really could not fault it. Pleasant staff throughout. The main bar was lively, good friendly service. Did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment, but they had a very good brasserie style restauarant for lunches, plus an elegant restaurant for dinner. Bit of a walk into town (approx 20 mins) but don't let this put you iff. Highly recommended!

Good Value Hotel

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel on 10/6/06 for one night. It was only 10 minutes walk into the centre of Manchester. The room was lovely, spacious and all the usual facilities, added extras were slippers and bath robes. We were on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate which was very good and the restaurant looked out over the canal. As it was very hot, we were able to sit outside and have a drink which was very pleasant as it is in a quiet area, just a nice distance from the centre. We used the Leisure facilities which was only 5 minutes walk away which were very good, nice to cool off!

The food was good and plentiful and the service was very good overall, the staff were very pleasant. I would recommend it for a weekend break.

Once was enough

Disappointing. Good service at reception but tiny rooms and a cramped bathroom. Some really basic amenities - like a trouser press, bathrobe - missing and the staff struggled with some quite straightforward requests too.

Fantastic

Hotel was excellent and I will definately return.

Well located for Manchester centre - 10 mins walk to shops.

All the hotel is beautifully decorated. Our room was a standard room but it was large and spacious, with 2 double beds. All the usual things you would expect from a Marriott - Tea & Coffee making facilities, mini bar, safe, TV, iron/ironing board and trouser press. In addition the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in!

We stayed b&b and the breakfast was fantastic. We were shown to our table and a waiter took our order for tea/coffee, toast and full english breaksfast. In addition there was a vast choice of cereal, fresh fruit, juice and pastries which you could just help yourself to. The cost of breakfast was included in our room rate but if you stay room only breakfast is expensive - £16.95.

Room service was excellent.

All staff very helpful and valet parking was fantastic. They will park your car for you in their car park at the back of the hotel. On our day of departure a member of staff brought our car around to the front of the hotel so we could put our luggage in it. He then went and parked it for us again and we left it on site whilst we did some retail therapy!

Having stayed in the Lowry in Manchester, I prefered this hotel and found it to be better value fo rmoney also.

Comfortable Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member chrisny2

The Marriott Victoria and Albert is a charming hotel with good service. The rooms that contain original molding and odd shaped floor plans are the most comfortable. Some of the rooms have small showers, but the beds here are the highlight. They are perhaps the most comfortable beds I've slept in. The employees were generally helpful, but on two stays in March, 2006, they could not figure out how to process payment using Marriott Gift Cards, and I had to pay with cash (an expensive unexpected expense.)

Excellent!

by TripAdvisor Member 2mac500

Recently stayed at this excellent hotel. The service and quality of the rooms was of a really high standard. The bed was amazing and we had a really good night sleep.

We did have a problem with the shower head falling off the wall but when we informed the hotel staff they swapped rooms straight away.

As always with hotels the price of the food and drink is very high but you come to expect that of hotels.

All in all an excellent hotel near the centre of Manchester in which we would happily stay there again.

Good quality Marriott in great location

by TripAdvisor Member Zippitydoodah

This is a great hotel if you want somewhere in Central Manchester that doesn't feel as if you are in central Manchester. Some of the rooms in my group were a little small but I managed to get a great room. Regardless, all were maintained to a high level and the whole hotel had a feeling of freshness and comfort. Would stay here again.
