Old and Glamourous
Old and famous British hotel. They say that Hitler told his pilots when they bombed Manchester to not bomb near the hotel...
If it is true or not - I don't know.
It is very central - walking distance to important areas (except football grounds)
Unique Quality: History in the walls
Pool, spa, nice rooms

The Midland Hotel is a Holiday...
The Midland Hotel is a Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza. It seems to be a popular choice with the rich and famous. When we stayed there we came across “Des Barnes” ex Coronation Street and a football team who were no doubt famous but not being fans we had no idea who they were. It is an expensive choice and we found our room was too small for two adults for anything more than a day or two, there was virtually no wardrobe space. Posh, though. www.crowneplaza.com.

If money is not an issue then...
If money is not an issue then stay in the Midland Hotel. I have stayed here once as a treat and it was lovely. The building is rather magnificent and old and the bed was huge! Rooms here cost around £130 for a double I think. A much cheaper reccomendation would be the Premiere Lodge on Deansgate. My boyfriend Tom stayed here for 8 weeks when work relocated him and it was great becuase the room was massive, the restaurant served nice food and the location is fab as it is right at the good end of Deansgate Road near the MEN Arena. (I think it costs about £45 a night here.
Unique Quality: The Midland has a lovely leisure complex but you have to pay for the car park. The Premiere Lodge does not have a leisure complex but it has a free car park!

A class act
This Edwardian terracotta palace backs onto the G-Mex Convention Centre and the beautiful Bridgewater Hall, home of the Halle Orchestra. Its 300 bedrooms ooze 4-star quality and class (its suites often play host to touring pop stars).
A similar level of luxury awaits you at Manchester's Malmaison, Palace Hotel, Rossetti and Salford's 5-star Lowry. And Manchester's newest 5-star hotel, the Edwardian Radisson, is next door to the Midland. Can't afford that? There's a YHA hostel in Castlefied.
Unique Quality: The Midland is where Mr Rolls met Mr Royce! Plush conference facilities have been dedicated to these founders of the famouse automobile makers. But if leisure is your pleasure and not business, a sauna and salon await to pamper you.

A Touch Of Extravagence
It's fantastic. Just look at the place. Victorian Railway architecture at it's most glorious. Glazed red bricks, where do you see that nowadays?
Inside it's simply sumptuous, the rooms are comfortablely sized, but not huge. The lobby is huge and there's often someone on the piano on an evening to entertain while you sip drinks from the lobby bar. Bliss.
Breakfast is enormous and can take 3 hours, with plenty of newspapers to read while you scoff.
Our favourite hotel anywhere in the world.
Unique Quality: Weekend rate is from about 90 pounds per double room per night.

The Midland Hotel
The Midland Hotel has 303 bedrooms and is placed literally at the heart and soul of this vibrant city. The Midland has witnessed some of the greatest meetings of the 20th Century, notably that of Charles Stewart Rolls and Frederick Henry Royce leading to the creation of Rolls Royce Limited.
The Midland joined the Paramount group in 2004 and will benefit from a £12 million upgrade investment.
Location is perfect at The Midland - it is right in the centre of all the action because Manchester has literally grown up around it. The Midland is situated next to the G-Mex Centre and Bridgewater Hall and close by are the Opera House, Palace Theatre and MEN Arena. The hotel is only half a mile from Piccadilly train station. Modern tram systems run alongside the hotel, so getting around is simple.
Unique Quality: Today the hotel boasts 303 en suite bedrooms with 14 superb Suites. There are 3 restaurants including the double AA Rosette winning French Restaurant, which is the place to see and be seen.
