Catch a train.
From Manchester Airport to Liverpool Lime Street there are direct trains for most of the day running once every hour taking 1hr 7 minutes.
Other trains are available by taking the frequent local train from the airport to Manchester Piccadilly (city centre) and changing there. One way fare £11,80.
Research times and details for your particular day of travel at www.nationalrail.co.uk as schedules may be different at weekends , early morning and late evening.

When walking around in the city centre I found this quite unusual thing standing in a street corner. I suppose it's some kind of industrial artwork. And even though it's odd, I find this one really cool.

Bring a backpack or something with wheels, my suitcase was extremely heavy, you'd think these sheep were packed inside. (Sorry Dave!) An umbrella and raincoat are always good items for UK. Though I had pretty good weather during my week in Manchester. However, it did rain quite heavily the day I left. Good walking shoes are a must if, like me, you like to see lots and do lots. If visiting the Peak District and Caverns have good trainers or hiking shoes. You can basically buy it all there. Bring an airpump for inflatable air mattresses which deflate in the night while you are sleeping. (Sorry Dave, couldn't resist one comment about it!)
bolton fish market! what a noisy place, what a nightmare. a small local marketplace near the bus station. fishmongers and butchers yealing prices, nice food (and pretty horrible smell), cookies, vegies... whatever...
This huge shopping mall located in the center of town, the Arndale Centre was once the largest indoor mall in Europe when it was completed in the late 1970s. Today, the Arndale serves Central Manchester, and is filled with music stores, clothing botiques, food courts, and anything else you can fit inside a mall.
The mall is served by buses and the city's Metrolink, and is easy to get to.
