How to get back to the City from the Apollo Theatre late at night

by Norwegian_ABC

Coming over for a gig on my own. A bit worried about how I'll get back to the city centre in Manchester afterwards. Don't feel like walking, but maybe there will be lots of others walking "with" me after the gig? If so, it won't be so spooky! Is there a taxi stand with plenty of taxis after the gigs? I actually have nightmares about this, beacause I was supposed to go with someone who can't make it.

I think you will be fine outside. There is a bus stop and number 192 stops right outside, opposite the entrance, takes you to the city centre. That would be my choice. This bus stop is always busy after a gig.

Was at the Apollo recently and there were a few black cabs as well but the bus would be fine. I've done that walk into the city centre a few times over the years, accompanied by others but don't think it is worth it anymore.

Buses run every 10 minutes and the last one outside the Apollo is 2 minutes past midnight, even later on Friday and Saturday. Concerts tend to finish around 10:30pm at the Apollo, I've never known one go past 11pm. You can download the timetable at http://www.gmpte.com/upload/routemaps/192_26247.pdf
Your stop is Ardwick Green, Apollo

Hope you have a great time, who are you going to see?

Buy some Cds from the Stone Roses or Ian Brown Ian Brown maybe an arrogant phuck head who takes too many drugs but to me, his music is soo cool. Fools gold is my favorite track by the Stone Roses and Ian's fairly recent album 'Music for the Spheres' is so chillin.

T.V Programmes

by eurotravels

Coronation Street isn't the only t.v programme set in Manchester! How many of you remember the ITV one drama about the battling hairdressers? Looks like there is going to be another series as they have been filming again (Jan 2004). This was outside the large NCP multistorey car park near the Arndale Centre.

Parsonage Gardens

by janiebaxter

Parsonage Gardens is in the City centre off Deansgate and behind Kendals department store. It is on the site where St mary's Church used to be, which was built in 1756 and closed in 1890.
Surrounding the Gardens there are still some of the beautiful old city houses that the gentry of the time used to live in, mixed in with the buildings of modern Manchester.
Parsonage Gardens is a popular little green space for a people who work in the City centre to go at lunchtimes and enjoy the trees and shrubs. Manchester City Council has planted some sub tropical trees and shrubs along with the resident Hawthorn and Magnolia.

Off Deansgate on the corner of Parsonage Street and St Mary's Street.

Manchester's Chinatown is a concentrated separate city centre quarter owes its present origins to the 1970s. Gradually in the old cotton warehouses around Nicholas Street, Faulkner Street and George Street, several restaurants began to open.

The Weird And The Wonderful

by steventilly about Affleck's Palace

A strange sort of emporium selling weird and wonderful stuff from clothing to books, records, make-up, masks, jewellery, "body jewellery"...
It's a bit trendy, a bit hippy, a bit "goth", a bit "fancy dress"...
Basically it's a place for freelancers, and affleck's is just the umbrella under which you'll find them all. Take a look, it's fun even if you buy nothing. Take a look at this section of their website for an idea of the kind of stuff in there.
