Central Budget Hotel
by Balam
Situated on Blackfriars St this handy Travel Lodge is great for city centre breaks. Conveniently located just off Deansgate and within easy walking from most of the city centres attractions and an Ideal place to stay for any VT meets in Town like the Christmas markets meet.
Like with any Travelodge the earlier you book the cheaper it is.
If this one is full try Manchester Ancoats which is also Conveniently located
(Carparking is charged and could be expensive, check website for details)
Unique Quality: To keep prices low they do not provide shower gels and toiletries but Travelodge’s are comfortable and spacious.
Prices are for the room not per person and you can get 3 people in a family room

Central no-frills hotel
by SueWarwick
There is nothing much too special about the Travelodge. It is easy to point out the bad things about it;
there is an awful view from your window.
although clean, it is a bit grubby,
breakfasts are very basic but expensive
but it is just a reasonalby priced (£40 room only) place to get your head down if you are staying in Manchester over night.
Unique Quality: I chose the hotel as it was very close to the MEN arena (where I was waching a Queen concert)
Rooms equiped with tv and kettle (with couple of tea bags, tubs milk etc)

Stay Clear....... !!!!
by pjdring
I am not normally one to write a review, in fact I'm very shy when it comes to complaining however, my recent experience at the Travelodge, Blackfriars Street has been such a bad experience I thought I had better warn other people.
I booked this hotel for 6 couples who were having an early Xmas break together in Manchester. When checking in there was total dis-interest from the reception staff who's attitude was clearly that they would rather be somewhere else ( and total chaos) !!
Parking was an absolute joke, the pay machine gave details how you could pay by credit card however, after following the voice activated system it then asked for the bay number where you were parked. Could I find a bay number (or any bay numbers), not a chance !! I gave up and went to reception but they didn't have a clue what I was talking about (and it is their car park !!!). The saving grace was that they were able to give me change for the parking machine, after 10 minutes of scratting around for the change !!
What was shocking was seeing a lady guest bringing a very dirty and stained duvet down to recpetion only to be handed a replacement which she had to carry back to her room. It was clear from the attitude of the reception staff that this was a regular occurance !! I was amazed, surely the staff should have been apologising and getting one of the staff to take the duvet to the room rather than the guest.
Not a moment later another guest apperared at reception saying that there was no duvet and pillow in their room. Once again, rather than the receptionist make arrangements for the bedding to be taken to the room a staff member handed over bedding over the Reception Desk !! What a joke !!!
The room was sparce and the hotel generally grubby and in desparate need for a refurbishment.
Now I know your saying, well it is a bargain basement hotel chain however, at £75 per night, there is absolutley no excuse for the state of the hotel and attitude of the staff.
Will I stay there again, not a chance !!! STAY CLEAR... you have been warned !!!
Unique Quality: Handy for shopping, the only saving grace !!!

i stayed at the travel lodge in manchester not just because it's a 2 minute walk to the M.E.N. arena but because it had good reviews in trip advisor. com for a budget hotel room....it was a horrible
experience...there was 1 staff on the front desk, and by 6 o clock
there was huge que almost out the front door of people waiting
to check in.... and in the morning
when i wanted a piece of toast, i was told it was £6 for a
cooked breakfast only...being a vegetarian, i only wanted toast
and coffee....it was probably the worst, cheepest and most
soggiest toast and nastiest coffee i've ever had. Walls are
paper thin...the same person on the front desk was also
serving breakfast! the room was just ghastly, it was unclean
and as bare of any nicety as could be possible...you might as
well have put a bed in an office....and i paid £65 .....if i have
to stay in a hotel near M.E.N. again and i'm in Manchester
without a car then i'd rather spend a few quid more in taxis
and stay somewhere better value than ever stay here again.
Excellent location and good ameneties for the price

Stayed here for a night in March for a shopping break with my partner.
Check in was easy and the staff very pleasant. You are given a credit card type key for your room.
I had a double room and paid £26 for it online. The room was well equipped, clean and tidy. There are coffee making facilities, a tv and adequate storage area. There was no safe and no minibar. There is however a decent bar in the hotel.
The bed was a proper double and unlike previous posters ours was very comfy.
The only downside was in the bathroom where the grouting in between some of the tiles had what appeared to be mould. This was unsightly more than anything else and I can't speak on other rooms but I wouldn't have thought it would be that difficult to get rid of.
Car parking is provided underneath the hotel for £5 for a 24 hour period which for a city like Manchester is fantastic. Be aware though that the car park is when busy rather tricky to negotiate.
All in all for the price paid this was a fantastic hotel and I would definitely stay here again.

Manchester Travelodge

I have booked a room at Manchester City Traveldge. Good deal at £26 per room per night. Can someone please tell me how to get there from Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station. Is it walkable, could I take a tram etc.
In the evening I will want to get to Rusholme by bus. Is the Lodge far from Piccadilly bus station?
Thanks for your help. Peter

Hi Peter
It's really easy.
Get the free shuttle bus directly outside Piccadily station (only runs up to 7.00 pm)and get off right outside the Marks & Spencers superstore.
Look back down the steet you're on, and you will see the Renaissance hotel (approx 25 stories high)on Blackfriars Street. Walk towards the hotel, crossing Deansgate onto Blackfriars Street, walk past this hotel, over the river and the travelodge is on your right.
The distance is approx 200 metres.
If you arrive later it is still only about 700 m from Piccadily station.
Piccadily bus station is about 5 min walk from the hotel.
Best of luck in the best city in the U.K.!!
Winty
