 | Westlynne Hotel: Not quite a Hotel

Westlynne Hotel is rated a 3-star Hotel but actually is a Bed & Breakfast. Rooms are small; no phone, hairdryer, desk, fridge, mini-bar or ironing board. I believe you could ask for a hairdryer or an iron and they will provide you with one (which you would have to return after usage). There is a small television but no cable. Storage consists of a narrow hanging space with little shelves (like shoe shelves). There are drawers that you could find in the bed by pulling up the coverings which we found the day before we left. There is no restaurant and the bar is more of a sitting room with a tv set and a bar in the corner. There is a dining room for breakfast which is opened for 2 hours (different hours for the week-end, check the note next to the dining room entrance). There is no one at the front desk after 11pm or midnight so they provide you with a key to the front door. Staff was very nice and friendly and accommodating. I'd give it a 3-Star for a Bed & Breakfast. But among hotels, its rating is simply too high. Compare it to Fairways Lodge which is also a 3-Star and offers all the facilities, including a gym and a spa, a patio, a restaurant and a bar with entertainment on certain evenings. You could get 6-nights at Fairways for £270 (around US$551), when booking from online, as opposed to £330 (around US$674) for Westlynne.
