Stayed two nights in this quaint little hotel within a few minutes walk of beautiful Brockenhurst village centre with its wonderful restaurants, cafes and shops. Warmly welcomed with hot coffee and choccie biscuits. We were allocated Exbury Suite - please choose this one as you have a little sitting room (with kettle, china cups and saucers, tea and coffee, hot chocolate and an endless supply of sumptuous biscuits!) with verandah as well as a beautiful bedroom with the most comfy bed ever and bathroom with two cute little ducks floating in the bath! Exquisite toiletries provided with cosy dressing gowns too. Perfect for a romantic break with the one you love.....No overnight noise from traffic even though the room is on the front. All staff friendly and attentive at all times and breakfast second to none - all locally produced and served piping hot. Will most definitely be going back soon.
Warm Welcome awaits
A very warm welcome was waiting for us when we arrived at The Cottage Hotel Brockenhurst in The New Forrest. The complimentary coffee was a pleasant surprise. Our room was very pleasant. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had everything (including ducks in the bath !!) All the staff we met were very polite and our breakfast was excellent. We will be returning, to stay a little longer next time. A great base to explore the New Forrest and south coast.
Great B&B in The New Forest

We stayed at the above B&B for 2 nights to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary and the hotel was everything that the hotel website said it would be. Although only small, the hotel was great, the new areas have been tastefully done so as to blend in with the old parts. The owners made every effort to ensure that we were as comfortable as possible and that we had everything that we needed. We were greeted on arrival with a complimentary pot of tea complete with biscuits. As this was a special occasion, we had chosen the Exbury Suite for the duration of our stay. This was on the first floor and comprised a bedroom with king size bed (2 singles joined) complete with canopy, a lounge area with table, seating and storage and an en-suite bathroom. All of this was nicely furnished and well decorated. The dining room was bright and cheery and there was a good selection of items for breakfast. All the foods are locally sourced from within the forest and our 'New Forest' breakfast was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. All in all a very enjoyable weekend and well worth the money.
lovely B+B and lovely place!
We stayed here in March and were glad of our choice. We stayed in the Reinfield room as all the other rooms were booked up. The reinfield room was lovely and clean, the ducks in the bath were a nice touch along with the radox (much needed after a 15 mile bike ride)
We ate at the Rose and crown pub which was a 5 minute walk and was a lovely pub selling good food.
all in all a lovely b+b and would def stay again.
We have just spent a lovely weekend at Cottage Lodge. The hotel has grown since our last visit by adding additional bedrooms. We stayed in one of the new bedrooms and the standard was lovely - the bathroom was a superb standard. The Cottage is well located in the heart of the village with many restaurants a short walk away. Breakfast is an absolute highlight. The Cottage serve the new forest breakfast with all ingrediants being produced within the New Forest. I haven't tasted bacon so tasty for years! We spent the weekend car free after visiting the hotels website and getting inspired to leave the car at home - a first for us! So a short journey from Portsmouth to Brockenhurst and then cycling on mile after mile of gravel cycle paths around the forest. A great weekend and can happily recommend the Cottage Lodge.
A breath of fresh air
Service as it should be.
Friendly attentive staff. Lovely clean well appointed rooms with lots of attention to detail to the finishing touches.
Lovely wholesome choice of breakfast using local produce.
Excellent location for roaming the new forest, and a good choice of restaurants within a very short walking distance.
Not that great
We stayed for 3 days in the Cottage Lodge. It is a well kept place with a certain charm and friendly staff. Breakfast also good. The reason my review is not that positive is the room. It was not the cheapest room but still very small and no bath. A bit claustrofobic I would say. That would be OK for a lower priced B&B but this was really expensive. So not recommended because of price/quality.
What a find!
Just returned from a few days at this lovely b and b. We stayed in the Tom Hayter room which is one of 2 converted stables at the rear of the property with its own little patio area. The room was modern, bright and airy. The bathroom was fairly large with really nice little touches such as rubber ducks in the bath and eco-friendly shower gel and hand wash.
We were greeted on arrival by a lovely lady who showed us our room and explained about breakfast etc (breakfast was REALLY nice - can see why it is an award winner). There was a handy book detailing places to eat and reviews and menus from previous guests.
We cannot recommend this b and b highly enough - we are sure to go back next year!! During our trip to the New Forest we stayed at a couple of 4* hotels - this place beats them hands down!!
A birthday 'treat' at the Cottage Lodge 'Hotel' proved disappointing. Having read rave reviews in the Guardian newspaper and on the web, the first let down was the location, in a busy side road off the high street in Brockenhurst with modern houses just feet away and no views. Also a lot noisier than where we live in Brighton! The room itself, the most expensive King William Suite was ok but not worth the premium rates charged. The mini bar was a disgrace - white wine, spirits & mixers but no fridge? Pointless. Also no mineral water in the room and the tap water was horrible. We were told on asking about bottled water that it was ' just a B&B' so wondering why it has 'hotel' in the publicity?! The environmental policy was also cited as a reason for no water. If the management denies guests access to bottled water then maybe they could offer jugs of the stuff at least! Breakfast time came and we were sat in a corner by the service door after being denied a place by the window. We then waited a full 40minutes for breakfast. This is by far the worst and most expensive B&B experience I've had in quite some time.
My girlfriend and I stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The check-in with over a cup of tea was the perfect way to unwind after the journey. Located perfectly for walking in the beautiful countryside but still has plenty of good restaurants and local pubs to explore.
We stayed in one of the new rooms with a patio for the summer and a wetroom to splash about in. It was clean, quiet and well presented with a dvd player and everything else you could expect.
The service was friendly, efficient and you could tell the team took pride in their work. Breakfast was terrific.
The Lodge has so many nice personal touches that we have already recommended it to family and friends and is great value for money. Well done! I look forward to staying again soon.
