The Blacksmith's House
Delightful B & B with a personal touch
We spent two nights at The Blacksmith's House on a cycling trip. The friendly owner, Tracy Merchant, could not have been more helpful, suggesting good cycle rides, places to eat and looking after our pannier bags when we arrived early and to the end of the day after we checked out. She was also a fount of knowledge about the New Forest.
The bedroom and bathroom were well appointed and spotlessly clean. There was a flat screen TV and free wireless internet access. A nice touch was the homemade biscuits and flask of fresh milk to go with the tea and coffee in the room. The breakfast was delicious with freshly baked daily treat, such as scones, to supplement the cereals, toast, ham, cheese, smoked salmon, fruit, etc. As we were on a car free holiday, we were also able to make sandwiches for lunch.
The house is near a fairly busy road and the railway line, so there is a slight noise issue if you want the windows in the bedroom open, but this is the only drawback to a delightful B & B.
I would recommend this B & B.
Directions: Close to railway station.
