Eastleigh - My New Home Town
"Eastleigh? Where's That?"
I don't suppose many people have heard of Eastleigh. It's a small borough just East of Southampton in Hampshire.
Having only moved here in May 2004 I'm still acquainting myself with the town so I will update this intoduction as time goes by (and my knowledge increases).
So far I have discovered that Eastleigh has a good range of shops - The Swann Centre being the big shopping 'Mall' and many smaller shops along 2 streets. There is a bus station and also a Main Line train station for direct travel to London in the East or Weymouth in the West. The town even boasts it's own international airport!
There is a good Theatre of performing arts - The Point, a college, Fleming Park sports centre and is only a few minutes from the M3 motorway so very useful for car travel.
In the summer there is a week long music festival which this year featured Will Young, Dionne Warwick, Aled Jones and Rolf Harris to name but a few.
Eastleigh is also famous for being the home of the world war 2 plane - The Spitfire.
