Walk around.
Lyndhurst isn't very big, so walking around and beyond it is easy...and the best way to get to know it.
It's surrounded by open forest - much of the New Forest is actually open grassland - where you'll see the famous ponies wandering freely. You'll also see some very attractive farms and houses, so typically English and so much an integral part of the countryside, on the outskirts of the village.
On summer weekends you'll often be able to watch a cricket match on the picturesque cricket field just on the eastern outskirts of the village at Bolton's Bench, for a typically English relaxed afternoon's enjoyment.

Another cutey!
