"Romsey"

Romsey is a small town on the Hampshire - Dorset border that contains an impressive (if somewhat sombre looking) Norman Abbey.
Many English visitors to Romsey are struck by it's familiarity until they realise it was the fictitious town of King's Markham in the TV series The Ruth Rendell Mysteries.
