Good clean hotel for precruise stay
by TripAdvisor Member dananoodle
We chose this hotel for a precruise stay because it is just a short taxi ride to the cruise docks and was reasonably priced and appeared clean.
The hotel was clean and reasonably comfortable and well located. Not luxurious by any means, but a good place to adjust to the time difference or sleep prior to going on a cruise.
The front desk staff were not always the most helpful, but were not rude. They did recommend a street within walking distance with many restaurants of which we found a very tasty Chinese restaurant and did advise us not to walk in the nearby park at night. Also told us where we could buy diapers/nappies. But when asked about getting to the dock and asked what would be the best method and if there were restaurants by the dock, the staff appeared confused and did not know. Wierd since many of the guests were going to the dock. Also, a fax sent by the front desk cost us 36 dollars and we found out once onboard our cruise that it was not received.
There were many pre cruise people and partiers in town for a big football match. I was awake in the middle of the night due to a baby adjusting to the time difference and though I saw many coming into the hotel in the lobby area after a night of partying(went to the bar for milk for the baby), I did not experience any noise in our room.
I would recommend this hotel for a reasonable priced pre-cruise stay but not if you are looking for luxury. It suited our needs.
Quite Good

We stayed here for three nights and we found it just fine. The rooms were a nice size and had the usual amenities. If you drive here the hotel is located in the middle of a fairly complicated roundabout junction and the car park is underneath it. The breakfast was good and we found that the bar and restaurant food was ok too and ok value for money.
EXCELLENT HOTEL

WONDERFUL HOTEL.
Staff were so kind ,helpful and always happy-thank you for all of your help.
Rooms are nice and beds comfortable-rooms are kept very clean daily.
Breakfast was delicious and servers great.
Thank you all so much-this should be a 5 star hotel!!!!!!!!!!
don't go near the restaurant

Stayed at hotel whilst Husband was working in Southampton. Arrived late so needed to eat (and a baby in tow needed bed). Shocked by the food standards. Over cooked, weird combinations, terrible sauces, over peppered etc. My husband tried it again after I had gone and had to send things back. I am not usually that much of a food connisseur but I know bad when I taste it.
Excellent value

The hotel is officially three star but it could easily pass as four. The rooms are large, the service excellent, it's clean, convenient, good location, quiet, and comfortable.
The parking is a little odd - you have to stay in a NCP park nearby and get your ticket validated. You do need nerves of steel if you're a newbie negotiating the ring road at rush hour. There's a shortcut up to the hotel.
The restaurant looked busy and a bit ordinary, so we ate elsewhere. It's probably fine though. Breakfast was OK - the usual fare, in fact better than average.
I'd definitely recommend it if you need somewhere to stay in Southampton city centre.
Great service, Inexpensive and Convenient
by TripAdvisor Member Bella Nota
My family needed an inexpensive triple room for an evening before leaving on a cruise, and Jurys Inn fit the bill. The room was clean, large, and functional, nothing fancy. Great shower and spacious bathroom.
What really set it apart was the service. We arrived late, when the restaraunt was closing, and were famished. I went to the bar to order sandwiches to take up to the room, but the chef was there and said he'd make whatever I wanted from the menu, and then he had someone carry the tray up to the room. The front desk was also helpful and made sure that we got a cab to the ports. Since most patrons were going to the ports this was a big deal. I'm planning on leaving from Southampton again next year and will definately be staying here.
Not Exactly Inexpensive

First of all let me dispell the rumour this is an inexpensive hotel, it might be if you are paying in pounds but in dollars 4 nights with a couple meals ran over $900.
The location is excellent, right on the park, The restuarant however is mediocre and expensive by US standards. There is no room service.
Rooms vary in quality - our first room was a wreck, dirty and no working kettle, and tiny and we had it changed for a nicer one with a park view. Staff was very accomodating. So if there is something you don't like, they will change it just be sure to specify what you want.
Extremely helpful staff

Booked here after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. Young chap on check in was extremely helpful regarding finding a particular restaurant we were trying to describe from distant memory, ordered us a cab, booked a table for us - fantastic service!! Friendly and efficient. Asked for a non smoking room, but as soon as we walked in the stale smoke smell hit - possibly guests had smoked in non smoking room - but would have hoped this had been picked up by staff. Aside from that, good, clean room, excellent value for money having paid £85 for a twin with b/fast in city centre. B/fast was fine, standard city centre hotel fare. Only downside is the bar closing at 0130, most people would probably not bother about this but having had a good night out we wanted a nightcap, no room service offered in the hotel. Shame. Big bonus was to see real coffee from freshly ground beans with a variety of coffee options available at the bar, real plus point for a coffee officianado! Would stay again, but make sure the room wasn't smoky first!!
