Relaxing and enjoyable stay
Stayed for 3 nights on a bed & breakfast basis. Hotel was very clean & found staff very helpful. The leisure facilities were excellent, and were very little used so plenty of space & time to enjoy. The golf course was in fantastic condition for the time of year with only one winter tee. Very attractive setting. We didn't eat in the evening at the hotel and found two local pubs The Bugle & Horse & Jockey that are really worth going to. All in all would use again.
My company had our annual Christmas dinner at the Botley Park. The service was poor and the food lukwarm. There were obviously not enough staff. Those who didn't look bored by the whole business were stressed and over pressured. We shan't be back and would not recommend any other company to spend an important team building celebration there.
Very good hotel with excellent food
Had an overnight stay at the Botley Park en route from the airport. Difficult to find (easiest route is to head for the centre of Botley and turn off at the sign in the town square) but when we arrived it was a pleasant suprise. Even though we were sent to the wrong room initially (we had booked an upgraded room) the room was modern, spacious and quiet. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was first class. The leisure facilities looked good but we didnt have time to use them and all in all, I would happily stay at the Botley Park again if I could find a good rate on the internet as I did this time. We normally stay at the Grand Harbour but it is considerably more expensive and the Botley Park had the edge on the food stakes. Well worth trying if you want a good hotel not too far from the airport for less than £100 a night - room only!
Excellent Modern Hotel
A fantastic modern hotel which has over 300 rooms. I booked a double room for 2 nights for £178 which was supposed to include 1 dinner and 1 breakfast. But we were upgraded upon arrival to a king size bed and given dinner & breakfast on both nights.
Check for any specials deals. Lastminute also have offers for this hotel too.
Hotel is clean, plenty of parking spaces. Sainsburys/M&S are about 10mins drive away.
The restaurant is very dark and does not have much atmosphere but the food is superb and service is great too.
The hotel has many leisure facilities (Squash / gym / sauna / swimming etc) as well as a golf course.
I will definately return to have a go on the golf course!
We stayed for 2 nights in May and found the hotel to be very good. Excellent room, well worth the upgrade with nice touches of robes, LCD tv, fruit, mineral water etc.
Good pool and gym, and golf course very quiet and in good condition.
The only downside was the service in the bars. Very slow with a poor attitude to service.
Overall it is a good hotel in a great setting, just don't be in a hurry for a drink.
Lovely modern hotel
Outward appearance of this hotel is uninspiring but once inside it's clean, modern and spacious.
Our room was clean and large with an excellent bathroom. The gym is superb and there is a nice swimming pool (although this is small).
Dinner was excellent - table d'hote menu is great value for money. The staff are helpful and friendly. I would, however, recommend you check your bill before you sign it - I was given the incorrect bill three times and I overheard someone else querying their bill as well.
The only real criticism I have is with check in and check out - both occasions there was only one receptionist on duty and if you are in a rush this would be really frustrating.
Otherwise, a great hotel!
An enjoyable stay
The standard rooms we had were comparable with some other 4 star hotel executive rooms. Very good. Check in was quick. Breakfast was a mixture of help yourself and waiter service. We also ate at the hotel in the evening. On both occasions food was good but service slow. The waiters were very polite. 2 course evening meal took 2 hours so be ready for a slow leisurely meal. We used the leisure club and enjoyed the pool and steam room. The sauna was out of action and the hot tub was looking a little worn (tiles ect)
We enjoyed sandwiches out on the patio in the sunshine at lunchtime. Again we had to wait a long time but worth waiting for.
My Mother, who is disabled, had to walk outside to access her room and enter through a fire exit at the side of the building as there was no lift to our floor. Reception said they had no other rooms. Luckily it didn't rain during our stay ( would have been difficult if it had) On our floor all the doors slammed very loudly when people entered and exited their rooms right up until 1am. They are very heavy doors. I don't know if this is the case on all floors.
If you want a relaxing stay in comfortable surrondings and are not in a rush this is the ideal place.
Dont Drink at this hotel!
Went to my brother in laws wedding at this hotel. On checking in we had a lovely room. Very nice and spacious. Very clean and fresh.
The problems we had were with the Bar and the service at the wedding. We were first directed to a bar with an inadequate number of staff. I think i waited around 25mins to be served. When we were served it was very expensive for what we had.
More problems occurred after the ceremony. The Bar only had large glasses for there house wine which were £6.00 a glass. Gin and Tonics were £5 plus for a single. They then ran out of larger which forced the guests at the wedding to drink Bottles of beer which were around £4 a bottle.
This hotel is very nice, it is just a shame that they have to rip their customers off so much by charging such high prices for their drinks.
Good Overall but.....
We booked 2 nights the Botley park for abit of luxury after a camping holiday.
Overall the stay was good but could be improved.
We booked a superiour room which had good furnishings and space. the bathroom was excellent, seperate bath and Huge Shower cubical. However we booked the room on the extra you supposedly got, I quote "Additional complimentary amenities include fruit, newspaper and use of bathrobes and slippers"
Well there was no fruit, we go charged for our newspapers and there was only 1 bathrobe (there were 2 of us) and no slippers in the room.
The main Irritation was that we had booked B&B so we could go in the resturant on only one of the nights and do our own thing on the other night. On arrival at the hotel there was a sign to advise that no jeans and trainer were to be worn in the hotel resturant. we'd not been advised of this (how hard is it to place a note on the website and on the booking conformation) and had not brought smart clothes due to of been on a camping holiday!
Breakfast was OK but nothing speacial for the £16.00 they were charging for it seperatly.
Room service (after having to walk to the reception to get the menu as we'd not been left one in the room) was shockingly expensive not only was everything £3.00+ more expensive than the same bar menu but they also charged a £3.50 tray charge to top it off. Saying that the menu was expensive in the bar at £11 ish for a sandwitch and £4.50 for a bowl of soup!
The Stay at the botley park was okay but i've stayed in better and more essentially cheaper and better value for money hotels. I found that the hotel did not offer good Value for money
We arrived on a friday night when a wedding was taking place at the hotel. However the bar was not packed and there was no noise in the evening from the wedding reception.
We where upgraded to a executive room, that was very spacious and clean and modern.
We ate in the resturant in the evening , the service was not slow as previously mention in other reviews, the staff where very attentive and the food superb.
