Walkington near Beverley

My Wife, Son and I stayed at the Barn House in Walkington East Yorkshire for 5 days in July 2007 and stayed in the "Out of Africa" room.
The Guest house is situated in Walkington which is a typical small Yorkshire village with 3 village pubs, one which caters for Roast dinners but food quality reflects the price you pay.
The actual Barn House sits between the owners house and the "Pigeon Loft" accomodation at the rear. As you enter the Barn House you are greeted with a large 12 seated antique table and chairs which is indicative of the rest of the furniture. There is a room with an eclectic array of chairs and a tv for guests wanting a quiet few minutes and a conservatory type room just past the kitchen for guests to have breakfast which according to your wishes can comprise of a fruit bowl, toast and full English all served with juices and tea or coffee.

The actual bedrooms are rather compact especially the "Out of Africa" room as it is a mezzanine , 1 single bed downstairs and 2 single beds upstairs that are under the eaves and therefore very "snug". Also the walls are all adorned with murals of Lions etc and also a leopard skin on the floor which I tripped over ( typical of me ).

The room cost us £100 a night for the three of us so good value for a 5* rated guest house. There were two polish girls who cooked breakfast at times when the host was not able to and parking outside for up to 5 cars.

Overall we were satisfied with our stay if we had any complaints it would be the mini bar which is on an "honour system" where the drinks were priced rather high.
Also the fruit bowl at breakfast was looking rather tired as it never seemed to have been refreshed from day one.
The bedsheets were changed regularly the staff amicable and if we ever had to visit east yorkshire again we would probably use the Barn House.
