Dove House Day
by northeast80
On Sunday 22nd July 2007 it was Dove House Day, Dove House Hospice is a local charity for anyone over the age of 16 that has a life limiting illness. They offer assistance to the sufferer and their carers, they don't charge anything for their help so of course they are dependent upon donations, income through their charity shops and events such as the Dove House Day.
This year there were sponsored bunij jumps, live music (The Cheeky Girls were the headline act :-)), a CAMRA Beer tent, dog agility and a soccer six competition. Entertainment from local bands, Fun stands, Rides, Miniature and model railways, Children’s area with bouncy castles, magicians and a giant hook a duck.
Parking is very easy as it's right next to the Walton Street park and ride and the KC Stadium on the site of West Park. Website: http://www.dovehouseday.org.uk/

In a harbourtown like Hull you...
by Pavlik_NL
In a harbourtown like Hull you should pay respect to the harbour, the sea and the fishermen. The fishermen's harbour and market give always a great view of what lifes about in such a town. Here you can also find the fish-auction and many fresh fish-restaurants.
Macaw outside a shop on Newland Avenue
by dragon_embers
During the day (providing it's not raining), at the southern end of Newland Avenue there will be a macaw parrot outside of a music/dvds shop. It's easy to see, but be careful- it may look friendly but it might bite. They usually put it out every day.
It's similar to the one in the photo!
Keep your horse clean
by northeast80
Just thought, seen as not many people will actually notice, or realise what this is, take a look at the photo.....
It is an old horse wash, the men would lead the horses down the sloap to be washed by the river, a clever idea I think, after a hard day working at the docks.
It's very close to Victoria Pier, you can in fact see it in the back ground.
Traffic Chaos

Avoid Ferensway in the city during working hours if you possibly can. Use the Park & Ride system, or park at Princes Quay. It’s a rush-hour nightmare to navigate Ferensway up to Beverley Road at the moment. A lot of structural improvement work going on in the area, it’s a bottleneck for bus routes; all this linked to the construction of the new St Stephen’s transport interchange in around the current train station, and former bus station area. This pain, with eventual gain, may well continue until 2007 when the project is due for completion!
