Travel Tips for Kingston upon Hull

Get yourself connected?

by Orbital_

If you’re budget conscious and need to log on in the city the best place to head is the Hull Central Library on Albion Street. Ask the helpful staff and they should be able to organise a visitors pass to get a short burst of net-time to check your hotmail (bring some ID). It’s also a great place to research anything from local history, local attractions and local events.

The Marina

Make sure you have a walk on the waterfront - lovely here, especially when it's sunny - Have a pint or two in the many pubs - Pop to 'The Minerva' round the corner for some proper ale

Bored of the multiplex?

by Orbital_

All multiplexed out? It's worth checking out the programme down at Hull Screen on Albion Street for the best in Indie and World Cinema. If you're tired of overpriced popcorn, aren't fussed about having a having your nerves shredded by the best Dolby Stereo Sound system but do want an alternative to endless sequels this is a pretty good way to spend a few hours and broaden your tastes. There’s generally just the one showing a day around 19:30 with a matinee on Friday and Saturday afternoons.

Brantingham is a pretty typically English village 8 miles west of Hull. There is some interesting Dutch gabled architecture here as well as the pub and shops that are typically English village. There is a pond and the village is highly forested as is the area it sits in. Good as a base for country walks in Brantingham Dale.
Just off the A63 at Elloughton but infrequent bus service for non drivers (155 from Hull).

I would recommend the national express coach - it costs about 20 pounds from London and takes about 4 hours i think . The train is really speedy if you get a direct train - it is at leas twice the price of the coach though
buses are good and pretty cheap
