The Nave...
by coceng
First : The Nave;
It's one of the most magnificent surviving examples of English Gothic architecture...
It was all begun in 1377, probably designed & excuted under the direction of master mason Henry Yevele...
The stained glass windows are surrounding the walls of The Nave, I closed in on one of them...
Greyfriars gardens

Behind Canterbury museum, walking through a narrow street which crosses over the river, you enter this very nice, quiet and peaceful place, a small park that invites to relax. A delightful environment -another one- in this ancient city.
Old fashioned country pub - delicious food
by clairegeordio about The Black Robin
This lovely pub was built in the 18th or early 19th Century. It is named after the highwayman who was eventually caught and hanged. Apparantly it has a resident ghost.
It has a really old fashioned, warm feel to the pub and is very nicely decorated, feeling like you are in someone's house!
I have only eaten in the restaurant part of the pub - not the bar food yet.
The restaurant food is quite expensive, with starters on average for about 5 GBP and main courses starting at 8.95 GBP, but are on average 13-15 GBP. I had goats cheese and sundried tomato pastry tart for starters and lasagne for main course, however, the lasagne was so large that I couldn't even manage half of it! The food was delicious though and I would return.

Howletts Wild animal park has over 70 acres of parkland and is described by the BBC as one of the best wild animal park's in the world!
Howletts is home to one of the largest groups of gorillas in the world. You can also find Europe's largest breeding herd of African elephants and many other types of animals, such as tigers and wolves. My favourites being the monkeys - of which there are many different breeds.
Howletts is open every day of the year except Christmas day.
