Travel Tips for Canterbury

The Nave...

by coceng

First : The Nave;
It's one of the most magnificent surviving examples of English Gothic architecture...
It was all begun in 1377, probably designed & excuted under the direction of master mason Henry Yevele...
Another snap by me showing the arches in The Nave...

THE GATE INN

by whitecliff62

The gate inn is a good family inn on the outskirts of Canterbury, its in easy reach of the city but out of the way from all the city noise. We only had a beer at this place but it looks the perfect place for a family meal or an overnight stay
Located by the new Dover road park and ride, just off the A2

Great venue for a VT meeting

by Mariajoy about Cafe Uno

This was the lovely venue chosen by nhcram (Natalie) for our VT meeting. The service was very good and the food was delicious! I had pasta with prawns and asparagus (but I can't remember the exact name!!) The other guests seemed equally satisfied with their meals too.

If you Must

by kentishgirl about Starbucks

If you must!!!!
Its been put right next to the Christchurch gate, the main entrance to the cathedral.....Capitalism meets Medieval. Panninis and cappucino if you must buy from here, I hate huge chains and this wins first prize for being a rip off.......so expensive, go into one of the smaller coffee shops in town instead.

Philgrimage Center Called Canterbury...

by coceng

Canterbury Started as a Roman town called Durovernum Cantiacorum, which later became the Saxon Kingdom known as Kent....
This photo was taken as we arrived at the bus station & walked towards The Canterbury Cathedral...
