The Nave...
by coceng
First : The Nave;
It's one of the most magnificent surviving examples of English Gothic architecture...
It was all begun in 1377, probably designed & excuted under the direction of master mason Henry Yevele...
Impressive ! Truly impressive !...
The height of the gothic churches in the late Middle Ages often created problems for their architects, especially when it came to supporting a heavy central tower...
John Wastell solved this problem by bracing the crossing of The Nave with relieving arches & the use of graceful bars of intricately fretted stoneworks...
Like you see the 'bridge' like structure between the arches on my photo ?
That's what I'm talking about...

*Good try* was her response :))

A good place for lunch - take a seat upstairs, near to the window in summer and people watch from above!
We just held our Crimbo works party here! They had a menu 3 course plus Coffee for only £19.95 per person. This menu was set, but gave you a huge selection on all three courses.
There are Veggie, Meat and Fish dishes to choose from here in abundance. Pasta is always good, as is the risotto.
At our recent Crimbo meal I started with the Melon wrapped in Parma Ham with Mozarella - served on a bed of Rocket...the cheese was soooooo fresh it was beautiful! I then ate the Red Snapper for mains and Tiramisu to finish - I must admit Ive had better tiramisu but this was one huge portion!
Arriving at Canterbury

Park and Ride is one option to get to Canterbury... we took this option and found it very useful :)
It is frequent, is excellent value for money and easy to use. For just £1.70 per car, you (and all your passengers can jump onto the shuttle bus departing every 15 minutes or so from the car park. It was a great help to us!
