We have been attempting to locate reasonable and timely transportation from the Cruise Terminal to Gatewick Airport for a 13:30 departure on June 3, 2009.
Can someone advise what they have found regarding the above? We will be arriving by bus from London, but that does not seem to be practical for the return to the airport.
Thank you.

will detail and link all your options including private transfer (book in advance).
For a departure at 13:30 you need to be at Gatwick by 11.30, if not earlier, to allow sufficient time for check-in and security procedures.
Much depends on what time you actually disembark, of course....disembarkation is not the same as docking. You may need to contact the cruise company directly to get an estimated disembarkation time.
South Eastern Train from Dover Priory Station to Tonbrdige. Walk across platform and get Southern Train to Gatwick.
Check it out on: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/
e.g the 0810 from Dover gets you to Gatwick at 1040.
My wife and I will be arriving at Dover in May on a cruise ship. We are also in need of transportation from Dover to LOndon. The cruise line wants $80 per person is that a reasonable cost?
If you want a private transfer then the equivalent of around 48GBP (per person?) is reasonable. If it's for both of you then (assuming the tour company is offering a bus/coach) National Express coaches will be cheaper and train will be more expensive.
This page gives good info about getting from the port to London, including public transport costs and estimates of private transfer costs:

You say London in this posting? Not Gatwick Airport?
If you want to go to London, one-way from Dover you can take the South Eastern High Speed Service from Dover Priory into London St Pancras. This train reaches upto 140 mph on its way to London.
It will take a little over an hour and will cost about $40 per person.
You can find detailed directions at www.walktomycruiseship.com/dover.htm (actually, you would have to do the reverse, but I hope that will help)

If you don't fancy going for a walk to see the view across the English channel then go to the Roman Quay Pub for a pint with the landlord Gus. tell him you like rugby, drinking and documentaries and you will have found a friend for life...
There is a lot to see in Dover if you are not just passing through enroute to Europe like I was. In which case you see the road in, the port and the famous white cliffs as you sail across the channel (or the tunnel if you drive). But if you do have time, then there is Dover Caste, Abbey's and churches, the old Roman fort and great areas surrounding Dover.
Visit the ruins of Scotney Castle On mondays & tuesdays it is closing day. And it was a monday when we came there. Normally it wasn't on our programm but our host told us, if we had the time, that it is worth a visit.
We were sitting outside, a little bit disappointed, and decided to have our picnic at that place before leaving for the next visit. And after a while the gardener passed by and was so kind to give us a short, guided tour of the domain.
For more pics take a look at the travelogue about Scotney Castle
Dover is pretty much the same as the rest of the UK in respect of Cutural differences. Dover has a problem at the moment with a lot of illigal immigrants and has been bogged down with housing thousands of Immigrants, so the people may be a little wary of People form Eastern europe.
