I used the Burlington Hotel in Folkestone for a blokes weekend away, well four days actually. Rates were very good at around £38 per night for a single room, although that was in March. It is located about 15 minutes walk from Folkestone Central train station and about the same distance to the main shopping street. There's a bus stop at the top of the road for buses to Sandgate or Hythe one way or Dover the other way. The public areas are nice with a good restaurant that I imagine is popular with locals for dining. The breakfast selection was good, although a bit expensive at £11.50 and you should note that there is nowhere nearby for breakfast without walking to the main shopping street. Rooms were small but comfortable with a desk and tea/coffee tray. TV with news channels and Sky Sports News, no Pay-per-View. Good bathroom with a powerful shower. Advertised Cloud WiFi in public areas but the signal was weak and mostly non-existent in the rooms. The two small lifts might prove a little inadequate when the hotel is full. Staff were friendly and efficient and most seemed foreign, possibly students getting some work experience. Good hotel and good value for money. At that price I'd stay there again although might be tempted to find something closer to the other side of the town.
It's not exactly overlooking the sea but very close to the Leas which make for a nice early morning walk.
