Best hotel for Eurotunnel

by dangui

Need your thoughts - can you suggest a good hotel near the Eurotunnel Station? I think we need to use the one in Ashford? We would like to park the car and take a day trip to Paris...so we need a hotel for 2 nights that's close to the station...the train leaves very early in the morning. Can you suggest a hotel with character, 90 Pounds or less for a double? Thanks for your help.

Eurotunnel or Eurostar Dan? I think you mean Eurostar? They have their own parking ion Ashford, not cheap but it is supposed to be guarded. As for hotels, then I bow to anyone that knows of a good one in Ashford as I don't use them.

Travel Tips for Folkestone

Battle of Britain memorial

by nhcram

The Battle of Britain Memorial which is in the shape of a Propeller is situated on the Cliffs just outside Capel-le-Ferne. It is in a very peaceful location and is a perfect place for reflection for those that lost their lives in the famous battle. There are a couple of replica planes in the area close to te memorial. (Hurricane and Spitfire.)
There is a car park (no charge) several information boards, and a souvenir shop that sells tea and coffee.

THE METROPOLE

by whitecliff62

The metropole is now better known as the Folkestone arts center with a health and fitness club and a fine restaurant. This was once a truly luxurious hotel and victorian architecture at its best but sadly it has been turned into luxury appartments, still i can't think of a better place to live, can you?

FOLKESTONES OLDEST

by whitecliff62

This is Folkestones oldest street, it leads from the town to the harbour at the bottom, there are some lovely little shops down this road too. Well worth a walk to the bottom, but its a killer on the legs when you walk back up
