Maidstone - County Town of Kent
"My Adopted Home"
I moved to Maidstone 25 years ago when I was working for Kimberly-Clark. Interestingly enough, they've since moved and I'm still here!
I'd have to say that I've never considered Maidstone as my home even after all this time. It's more like a place I just happen to be at the moment. I was born on the edge of the Lake District and went to school there so I still get nostalcic if I see a calendar which has a view of "Troutbeck in the Snow" for instance.
As for the town itself, it's pretty unremarkable. It's the county town of Kent which is known as the Garden of England. My son Jack reckons we should try and twin it with New Jersey (the Garden State). After all they're both close to large conurbations although I think they have more gangsters (just) than we do - if The Sopranos is to be believed anyway!
