The first thing you see on entry is the aquarium, everything is bathed in a blue light & there?s relaxing music playing. There?s a variety of fish including Turtles, Clowns, Yellow Tangs, Eels & Surgical fish. The Aquarium initially was a Menagerie in the late 1870's on its current site. The aquarium predates the rest of the Tower. The ceiling looks like the top of a cave, this area can get very crowded (Aquarium not the ceiling).
The dinosaur ride is good, but you can?t take wheel or pushchairs on this ride. You sit in a kind of rail car with the bar pulled down, there?s a commentary right from the big bang up until the present day. It?s very good as it gets very hot in the volcanic section & cold during what is the Ice Age. To get to the dinosaur ride you can get a lift to floor three & all levels, although it?s a bit stomach churning.
The ballroom is phenomenal! The interior was grand & there?s a bar which sells proper cakes & cups of tea during their t-dances. This is where the TV programme ?strictly ballroom? & ?Come Dancing? was filmed. The floor is a proper sprung surface & you can feel the floorboards bouncing under people?s weight. The famous Wurlitzer comes out of the stage which is good, you can get married here, play the organ or join the audience for ?Come Dancing?.
The tower lift goes up every 5 mins, If it?s too windy they will not allow people right up to the Top. The views across Blackpool are amazing; you can see The Isle of Man across the Irish sea on a clear day.
