Blackpool Tower
Blackpool Tower was erected in 1894 and it really is worth it to take a trip up to the top which is 518 ft up. The elevator ride up did, however, give me brief moments of panic when I realized you could see the rusty bits on the tower. Then I had a think about exactly how old this tower was! Yikes! There is a really good view of the town from the top though and there’s even a postbox up there where you can mail off postcards to all your VT friends ;-) Be sure to walk the glass floor as well, though it’s not exactly as good as glass floor at Toronto’s CN Tower.
The tower is also home to an Edwardian ballroom, there was a gentleman playing the piano when I went through, and various other attractions. Some typical arcade style games are on one level, you might find yourself a few coins lighter after playing with some of them.
Also at the tower is a circus which I missed seeing :-( I really wish I’d roused myself from my nap at the B&B and headed back down to it.
Entrance to the tower is £11 but I think it’s more if you wish to see the circus, though I could be wrong about that.
