Most Satisfactory Holiday at The Cornhill

by TripAdvisor Member Bill_Burnley

Just returned from the cornhill hotel after a wonderful stay. We had a midweek package from the 1st to the 5th of October 2007.

The cornhill staff were wonderfull and attentive and we were given a loverly bedroom overlooking the sea, we were fortunate to have the bonus of being able to see the illuminations every night from the comfort of our own room. The room was loverly and clean, with clean towels everyday. We have stayed in many hotels in blackpool, but the cornhill food beat them all. My family enjoyed the entertainment cabaret every night, but our son spent most of the time playing pool in the gamesroom. The organisation of the hotel from our day of arrival till the day we went home was first class. This hotel has a very good size car park which is free and is a must have these days. We cant wait for our return visit to this hotel next year.

Worst Hotel Ive Ever stayed at

by TripAdvisor Member WilmaFifeScotland

Never laughed so much in my life. I thought we must have been on the set of Jeremy Beadle. Shuttled like cattle for our meal which were worse than any school meal I was ever forced to eat by the dining room attendant. Our host wore a long black jacket that had seen every meal since the hotel was opened...withour a wash. Carpet was patterned by a iron burn. Had no option but to stay the first night due to the length of our journey and time of night.

Loved the Cornhill Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Mcphill_Glasgow

Myself wife and six friends with our 4 kids have just had our usual school holiday break in Blackpool, we picked the Cornhill Hotel on the Prom, after we had sent our deposit one of our friends said they had seen a bad review, we went anyway as their website looked excellent, when we arrived we were checked in and welcomed by the owners, the little guy Marek the porter carried all our luggage upstairs, whilst we used the lift he was so funny, we were shown our rooms which were clean and better than we have had in Blackpool Hotels on previous visits, after our first meal which was superb.

From then on we had a fantastic holiday at the Cornhill, we spoke to other guests who told us they had been coming to the Cornhill for years. The entertainment was first class especially Jeff Denton and Joanie. The bedroom staff in fact all the staff were very nice, they made sure our every request was met with a smile especially the lovely Anna.

We usually try different Hotels in Blackpool for our October break, but now we have found the Cornhill we shall return next year without hesitation Keep up the good work Rod & Joanie.

Enjoyed staying at the cornhill

by TripAdvisor Member AmyDerbyshire

After having booked for a weekend break with 15 other friends, I discovered some reviews about the Cornhill, some good, some bad so was a bit worried prior to our arrival and what we would find. We needn't have worried at all. The bedding and towels were spotless and the food was good and plentiful, we didn't come away from the tables hungry but what do you expect with having had a six and eight course meal! On our departure I collected the key deposits from reception without any problems after attracting the attention of the proprietor by placing my finger on the bell in reception and pressing down! Don't Be Fooled

by TripAdvisor Member FifeAs16

Please do not be fooled with this hotel. It is badly in need of refurbishment. The bedrooms are so small I could spread my arms out and touch both walls. One person can only walk down the corridor - the rooms have been cut in half to make two rooms. The shower door would not close and the decor was dark and dingy.

The food left a lot to be desired. 5 course meal? Yes, maybe it was but can you class a cup of tea and 1 after eight mint as 2 courses? The soup was packet soup and had less than 4 spoonfuls in a bowl. I hope you like roast potatoes - every night without fail! You have to wait till you are called to be seated - what a joke! It's like meeting the queen, you have to meet your hosts first before you can eat!

Couldn't get our £1 back for the deposit as there is never anyone there to see to you.

Avoid it at all costs! Terrible terrible experience.

lumpy beds and lumpy floors

by TripAdvisor Member queentanya

My husband and i went to this hotel 4 years ago just 5 months after we met. We went because we wanted a romantic week-end together!! The hotel was advertised in our local paper and one thing it offered was "four postered" beds!!!! When we arrived they made us wait in turn, as when we booked it with the later time, this was sort of last minute. When we went into our room i thought it was lovely until we went to bed that night. We couldnt get to sleep as the bed was very lumpy, we even tried lying across the bed but no different!! My man tried to sleep on the floor to see if he could get any sleep, but to no avail. The landlady told us that her PLASTIC SURGEON was coming to to see her perform, maybe she should have used this money to buy new beds for her guests!!!!!!!!!!!! They also told other guests they had no four poster beds, but still charged them the same amount. Food not bad and neither was the staff.
