The service was generally excellent, the rooms are not luxurious but they're a good size and well maintained, although there was no minibar or fridge. On the downside the bathrooms need upgrading (over-bath showers and plastic shower curtains are not a good thing in my opinion).
Room service food is not cheap and there's an additional £3.50 'tray charge'.
On the second stay there was noticeable cost cutting (like most hotels as a result of the recession) with less bathroom toiletries and reduced menu choices.
Car parking is available at £5 a day.
The hotel is set in large landscaped gardens, a perfect place to stroll to clear your head after all day in meetings.
Unusual for chain hotels, which usually offer average food that has a distinct hotel taste to it, here it really was top quality food with excellent service.
On weekends any bottle of wine from the list is £15, which is excellent value.
The breakfast buffet was better than any I've seen in British hotels, with a very large choice of hot and cold foods, fruit, cereals and excellent pastries. They even feature black pudding and haggis on the buffet.
