A good stopgap hotel!

Myself and OH stayed here for a night on the way upto Lincoln to pick new keys up for a uni house the next day. We paid twenty pounds (for two of us) for the night - this included free parking.
Upon reaching our room, we were greeted by a very tidy, very clean, basic room, with tea and coffee making facilities, a TV and a bathroom with a very powerful shower! Towels were also provided, as were drinking glasses, and a bar of soap. Items such as toothbrush, paste, razor, shaving foam, shower gel etc were available from the vending machine downstairs.
Minutes away from the main services, we decided to eat over there - I strongly recommend taking your own food for the night, as Burger King is extortionately overpriced (it cost us 21 pounds for 2 meals) and I wouldn't have touched the food at the Eat & Drink Co.!
That's my only complaint about our stay.
We were in a room which overlooked the moors at the back of the hotel - and had the pleasure of seeing all the rabbits in the early hours of the morning! We heard a little road noise (as expected) but it didn't disturb us in any way. They also allow a maximum of 2 pets to stay with you in your room (pets cost 25 each to cover any cleaning needed)
I would not hesitate to book a room here again.

Travel Tips for Grantham

Famous Grantham-ites

by btex

Two famous figures in England's past and present came from Grantham: Sir Isaac Newton and Margaret Thatcher. Thatcher was born (1925,) reared, and educated in Grantham and later became Prime Minister of England. The picture shows the childhood of home of Margaret Thatcher.
Newton made several great strides in the area of science. He was born in 1642 in the nearby town of Woolsthorpe and educated at the King's School which is found in Grantham on Brook Street (http://kingsgrantham.8m.com/index.html). He later developed many of his theories at Woolsthorpe. A statue of Newton stands in downtown Grantham. Exhibits on both Thatcher and Newton can be found at the Grantham Museum.

Belvoir Castle

by btex

Belvoir Castle - about 6 miles from Grantham. Even though it's spelled BELVOIR, locals refer to it as Beaver Castle...not sure how they got Beaver from Belvoir. The place has some history to it; the original owner was an associate of William the Conquerer. The structure that stands there now dates from the 19th Century. It's a nice place to tour through - nice architecture, furnishings, art, and garden.

Grantham

by btex

Most of my heritage comes from England...with some Scottish and German thrown in for good measure. I have relatives living in the town of Grantham. Grantham is a nice town with interesting attractions, lots of history...and pubs! The town is in Lincolnshire county - not too far away from Nottingham.
