This little harbour is for private boats and is part of the commercial dock area of the town. Much of this area is empty and unused now.
The tower is the town’s most famous landmark and according to myth filled completely with cotton wool. At least that’s what I believed as a child. (How does it not bend in the wind?) These days I prefer to think that one day it will rise up from where it stands and fly away to orbit our planet before heading off on a miraculous journey into deep space. But probably it won’t.
Lots of things come searching for a home on our beach. Who knows how far they come and where from. (Quite possibly from someone’s back yard: it’s not far to the wall from the houses nearby.)
The fresh sea air and sparkling night skies.
The tides move in and out. In the distance it?s possible to see two of the fortresses built around 90 years ago to defend the mouth of the River Humber against invasion. They are no longer in use, but there are plans to convert one of them to be used as a drug rehabilitation facility (there is some opposition to this in the town even though we have more than enough people to fill it).
Quiet with excellent sea view.
