www.ukbus.co.uk/cgi/jptt.exe?c=Linc&a=000001&z=000002&s=N&h=192238&x=3&
has the bus timetable. It goes from Lincoln bus station, which is just across the road from the train station. Map of Lincoln on this link:

Nocton is around 8 miles from Lincoln (around 20 minutes drive, depending on traffic). A taxi should not be too expensive (perhaps 10 to 15 GBP?), but the bus will be a great deal cheaper!
Travel Tips for Lincoln
One of the classic views of...
by steventilly
One of the classic views of the cathedral, across Castle Square and beyond Exchequer Gate. This square is the main hub of this part of the city, leading to the Castle, the Cathedral, Bailgate and Steep Hill. There are many pubs, cafes & restaurants near here. The Magna Carta pub to the right as you look is quite nice, but there are some really good places in Bailgate, round to the left here as you look.
Ignore that guy trying to hog the picture!

Lincoln Cathedral is huge, even with a 24mm lens, you don't get a lot of it in!
The cathedral of 1092 actually only lasted until 1185 when it was largely destroyed by an earthquake! In fact may disasters have befallen the cathedral, it must be one of the most unlucky in the country. Its original roof was destroyed in 1141, then there was the eathquake in 1185, it's 540 foot central spire collapsed in bad weather in 1547 and the smaller spires of the western towers were demolished by the Victorians!
The tale of 'Little' Saint Hugh
by sourbugger
Lincoln is home to two saints - and both of them called Hugh !
The main one, also known as Hugh of Avalon was a Frenchman who managed to re-build the cathedral in pretty much the way we see today.
The 'little' St Hugh (there is a plaque to him in the choir stalls area) was no more than an innocent eight-yead old boy. Back in the 13th Century anti-semiteism was rife, and St Hugh's story was probably a typical example of trumped-up stories to validate religious persecution.
It was claimed that little Hugh was found at the bottom of a well after being ritually crucified and dis-membered by a group of Jewish people, one of whom dressed up to play the role of Pontius Pilate. Eighteen people went to the gallows in Lincoln itself, whist a further 90 were arrested in London - and escaped only on the payment of an enormous fine. The story seemed to justify another wave of terror.
In later years a number of miracles were claimed by people who brough children with various ailments to the shrine of the little boy. Today, only a plaque remains. Do not confuse it with the much grander memorial to the other St Hugh who, ironically, was noted as a great supporter and protector of Jewish poeple.
Lincoln Cathedral
by LizD
No trip to Lincoln would be complete without a visit to Lincoln Cathedral.
Set high on a hillside overlooking the City it looks very impressive and can be seen from some directions for over 20 miles.
If you like historic architecture, the cathedral is worth taking a look at. If your not its still worth a the walk to the top of the hill just to browse around the quaint streets in that area.
Spot the Roman ruin..............
by leics
..............there are bits dotted about all over the historic part of Lincoln, although the Roman town of Lindum also extended down to the river. The most impressive ruin is the Newport Arch, the remains of the Roman North Gate (it would have been substantially larger originally).
