Brian Jacques
by lauramarkham
We will be visiting England this summer. My ten year old daughter is a Brian Jacques fan. She has read every one of his books at least twenty times and knows them all by heart. She insists that we make a pilgrimage to Liverpool, where he lives. Is there a way to meet him, or a Redwall museum, or anything that she could do in his honor? Otherwise I fear she will insist on setting up camp outside his residence! Thanks!

Have had a quick look but can find nothing useful. Assume your daughter is aware of www.redwall.org, the relevant website? She might be able to get some information by emailing them.

You could try contacting BBC Radio Merseyside (www.bbc.co.uk then look for the regional radio stations or search for his name.) He used to do a show for them.
They may be able to tell you of any Public Appearances he's doing. Alternatively, if you find out what time his show finishes, and assuming it isn't pre-recorded, you could always hang around the radio station at that time.
Better than hanging around outside his house, anyway!
Travel Tips for Liverpool
Liverpool Cathedral.
by A2002
It is an Anglican cathedral and is the largest cathedral in Britain. One will not miss the sight of the cathedral as it is huge and can be seen on a hill top from Albert Dock. When I walked closer to the cathedral, I felt the massiveness of this cathedral. It is big from the outside too.
As I enter the cathedral, I was very impressed by the massiveness. The celings are very high with stain glass around the walls. This cathedral housed the biggest working organ in the world with 9765 pipes.
There's a statue made from bronze at the entrance of the cathedral. It weighs half a tonne and placed on a slab of bricks. I am amazed at how can that small platform hold the weight.
Liverpool Football Club
by NYC2TLV
Liverpool is home of two premier football clubs, Liverpool and Everton. Both of which should be on the top of any visitors list to Liverpool. A visit to Anfield for instance is an unforgetable experience. Just to hear the supporters sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" is a once in a lifetime experience so show up for the match with enough time to hear the song.
The match that I went to was an UEFA Champions League qualifier between Liverpool Football Club and Maccabi Haifa Football Club from Israel. The atmosphere was electric, and I only paid £20.00 which was well worth the money.
Taxis from Liverpool Lime Street train station only cost around £4.00, this is the easiest way to get to Anfield. Busses 17 and 217 also take you to the stadium from Queen Square bus station. There are no real bad sightlines in the stadium, but you may want to bring binoculars just in case.
Liverpool Life Sculpture

Just behind the Liverpool Life Museum is this endearing sculpture looking out to the Mmersey on the Riverside Walk.
It depicts the leaving of Liverpol - so many emigrants left here for a brave new world.
Posh Bar at Albert Dock
by sinjabc about Baby Cream
Went for a drink at this posh bar at the Albert Dock on a Thursday night. Beautiful inside, but quiet. Most likely more lively on a Friday or Saturday. Often features headliner DJs. Dress to impress! No trainers (sneakers).

By car via the M6- M62- M58 I would recommend if you come via the M62 to go left A5058 then via the A562. Parking is Free at the Albert Dock, so if you want to see the rest of Liverpool you leave your car there and walk.
By Train to Liverpool Central or Lime Street Station.
By Air using Easy Jet, there Easy Rent Cars $ 15 per day.
By Bus
By Car Ferry from Dublin, Belfast or the Isle of Man.
There is a good Bus Service.
