Is there any free parking in Liverpool City Centre on a Sunday?!
by kiamsiapl
Hi
I am thinking of taking my family to visit Liverpool, THE City of Culture, this SUNDAY (20/07/08) - I was wondering where the best place to park will be, I am sure most locals would know - as I am of limited means, FREE parking would be my preference!
Would be grateful if someone could please help.
Thanks
Kiamsiapl
p/s: Would all the city centre shops and attractions be open on the Sunday?

Hi
there arent any supermarkets in Liverpool centre with car parks. Try parking just outside say around London road, there is a Liddle there but you have to pay but there is some free parking around there on a sunday and its not far to walk down London Road into the centre.
Hope this helps.

Hi
just remembered it is the tall ships weekend in Liverpool that weekend so the city will be very busy indeed, so could be very difficult to park. You may be better getting an Arriva day bus pass then you could park where you dont have to pay and come into the city centre on any off the busses.

Thanks Imp! I'll probably take an Arriva bus into the city center, in that case... will now take a look on the internet how much one of these passes cost! :)
Tall ships event could be quite interesting for the family...

Not sure where your coming in from but if your travelling from the south head for the wirral instead and park up at the ferry terminal in Seacombe.
You can then do one of the most famous Liverpool Tourist attractions as your method of transport.... it will be busy though but you will get a good look at the tall ships, and the best view of the famous Liverpool waterfront you can get.

New Quay carpark does cheap parking rates on Sat/Sun. I last worked in Liverpool in May and at that time it was £2.50 for the whole day at the weekend (but very expensive rates during the week)- and is over the road from the Liver Building next to the Thistle hotel so it depends which side of Liverpool you are coming in from as to how convenient it would be for you. However, unless you go in early it may get full with the visitors in for the Tall Ships.
You could always check out Merseyrail, there are several lines from the outskirts into the centre. I sometimes drive in (from M58 direction) and leave my car at Aintree or Seaforth station and get the train in - return fare will be about £2.10) Travel to Central for the shops or James Street for the Albert Dock and Waterfront.

Travel Tips for Liverpool
Liverpool is a city of two...
by kinky9kev
Liverpool is a city of two glorious cathedrals, within close proximity of each other. The catholic cathedral is affectionately known as 'Paddy's Wigwam' and is built like a wigwam. The other cathedral is an architectural masterpiece. When visiting Liverpool you must take the ferry across the Mersey, over to Birkenhead and back. The city's skyline and majestic liver birds viewed from the boat are a sight for sore eyes. It makes you really feel part of something bigger. The city oozes history. The nightlife in the city's buzzing and vibrant bars. On an August night it was like New Years Eve for atmosphere anywhere else in the country.
Shopaholics

Shopaholics will have no shortages of brand name stores and smaller designer shops in Liverpool. Lord Street is the main shopping street but there are other small shopping malls too..like Clayton Square shown here from the inside in the pic.

Wood Street, City Centre
by Zyg about Wood Street, City Centre
Wood Street is packed full of bars and clubs. One of the best clubs to go if you like to have dance to 70's and 80's music is the Blue Angel. It's right at the top of Wood Street and you have to bang on a door to get in. The price is £3 to get in, but the drinks are soooooo cheap. A pint of Fosters lager will set you back 70p. Smart. No jeans, no trainers.
