SHOPPING AND PARKING IN LIVERPOOL CITY CENTRE
by babytiger
Hello
I am hoping to visit Liverpool soon.
Can anyone recommend a car park close (ie; within walking distance) to the main shopping area? I will be driving in from the M62.
Are the major shops located in one main area? Is this anywhere near (again within walking distance of) the docks?
Hoping for some replies
Thanks

Hi, I think that there is a big carpark on the albert dock which you can walk to the shopping center from. Think it's about a 5-10 minute walk from the docks.

St Johns Precinct is probably the most central car park. From there you can easily reach the main shopping areas of Church Street, Bold Street, Lord Street and Clayton Square. There is also the new Met quarter which has just opened in Whitechapel ( which is at the junction of Church Street and Lord Street turn right at GAP). This has all of the designer shops in it eg Armani Exchange, All Saints, Gieves & Hawkes, Flannels etc (also has a nice bistro for lunch), and from here you are only seconds away from the Reiss store in Matthew Street and a little further up Matthew Street is Cavern Walks where you will find Cricket etc. There are also some decent bargains to be had in St Johns Precinct itself.

Sorry did'nt give you any directions.
From the M62 follow the signs for the city centre, then you will pick up the signs for Lime Street Station.
From there St Johns is signposted, you cannot miss it, it has got the huge Radio City tower in front of it.
The entrance is up a ramp at the side of the Holiday Inn hotel on Lime Street

Travel Tips for Liverpool
Mersey Ferry Terminal Building
by yooperprof
A controversial addition to Liverpool's waterfront! Located on Pier Head, Liverpool - immediately across the fine neo-classical trio of buildings (known locally as the Three Graces) and near the new 3XN-designed Museum of Liverpool. Designed by Belfast-based Hamilton architects. Kim Nielsen of 3XN is not a fan: "I cannot find the words to describe my disappointment that any architect could do such a amateurish look-alike next to our building. And how could they get the planning permission, when I know how much effort it took to get the museum design through the planning process, on this very sensitive UNESCO heritage site."
Waterproofs
by William1982
Waterproof clothing is essential, not quite as bad as Manchester, but Liverpool does have its fair share of rain. Plus you get that ever changing weather. If you step out in shorts and t shirt it's guaranteed to rain within 20 minutes!!!

Enjoy a daytrip or even a half day to Southport. The pleasure beach has a donkey derby and you can get a palm reading. If you fancy a break from the City, then this is the place to go for an invigorating jaunt.
Matthew St.
by William1982 about Matthew St.
Liverpool has a great nightlife catering for all tastes. Beatles fans will find Matthew St. appealing (Cavern Club, John Lennon Bar and Rubber Soul). More in Beatle name than nature but still cool spots. Daytime is a relaxed affair.
Night time is no trainers or sports wear but rules are generally at the doorman's discretion (and mood).
Getting to Anfield Football Grounds
by Smutzie
If you are going from the city centre, there are two buses you can take. You can catch the 17 from Queen Square. Or you can catch the 26 from Paradise St. Both buses stop right outside the grounds. The buses run frequently and trip should cost you under £2.
