Tranfer from Liverpool to Manchester

by marcogarcia

Hello,

In mid September I will be travelling to Manchester, more particularly to Salford University. I will be arriving at the airport in Liverpool, and was wondering what is the cheapest way to go from the aiport to Salford.

Thank you very much

Cheapest way to travel in the UK is usually by long-distance bus (coach). The major carrier is National Express:

http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/index.cfm

You can get a coach direct from the airport to Salford university. Journey time is around 2 hours, one-way fare 7.50GBP.

If your landing time doesn't suit the coach timetable, then you can get a coach to Manchester itself. Then travel from the city centre to the university by bus 105 or 43. The university page gives details:

Sorry, I copy/pasted the wrong bus numbers.

From Manchester City Centre you can get buses 12, 26, X34, 35, 36, 37, 38 or 39 to the university.

My apologies.

On Liverpool airport, you should look for the counter of this bus company called 'Terravision' where you can buy tickets. Thats the cheapest and most convenient way to reach Manchester city center from Liverpool airport.

One way tickets costs 7 pounds. From Manchester city center, you can then take a bus to Salford Uni.

Hope this helps

You are quite right. For some reason I misread the cost of the National Express direct coach from Liverpool to Salford university. It is 10.10GBP

Nevertheless, a direct coach may be better even if it costs a couple of pounds more (the cost of bus fare to the university needs to be added to the Terravision fare), as long as the times suit the OP.

Thank you very much. I will definitely take the cheaper bus (Terravision) because it will leave near my hotel, in Shudehill. I will reach the university from here later.

The Liverpool waterfront

by sandysmith

The Liverpool waterfront buildings - Cunard, The Liver Buildings and the Port of Liverpool Buildings, commonly known as the 'THREE GRACES'. -are an internationally well recognsed landscape, a symbol of its historic port. Plans are afoot though to add a '4th Grace' to reflect the 21st century.

THIS could be the view of Liverpool from the River Mersey in 2008. The modern designs which have reached the final shortlist in the search for Liverpool's 'Fourth Grace' were revealed exclusively by the local paper "Liverpool Echo" on Wednesday, August 14. This pic shows one of the designer entries. For more info see
http://www.liverpoolfourthgrace.co.uk/

For the next few tips though i'd like to show you the Three Graces as they are at the moment.

You have to be a member to get in, you can join 24 hours before you intended to go and your guests must have proper ID ie) driving licence- but once your in, get comfy coz you'll be there all night!

They have all the modern games black jack, roulette, craps (never seen anyone playing it though!) loads of others that I wouldnt have a clue how to play!

There is a high stakes area for those who like to spend loads! At the weekend the majority of visitors go for a meal and get dressed up - there are however hardcore gamblers in their jeans who have been there all day!
