Were meant to be staying in the Formula 1, but the door was broken and no night porter on duty so moved next door where the management were really helpful, tried to get us sorted next door but couldnt so put us up there. 24hr food and bar. Top people, top place....
Directions: Opposite entrance to albert docks
This hotel is right on the Albert Dock and is only a ten minute walk to the city center.
There was a nice area outside that had picnic benches and parasols which was lovely as the weather was really hot.
The rooms are basic..bed with tea/coffee making facilities and a shower room. We didn't need any more as we were only there to sleep!
Unique Quality: When we got there the staff were quite rude. Our booking was a group booking and therefore we weren't allowed to check in until Group Checking in time (which was 2pm) as it was only 1pm when we arrived we were told we would have to wait. There was a luggage room where we could put our stuff but the room was absolutely rammed with other guests luggage so we just sat around having a few drinks for an hour and waited with our luggage....now here is the stupid bit....at 2pm ALL the groups who were checking in, went to check in at the same time...it was like the check in queue at an airport..it was ridiculous PLUS we ALL had to fill in guest record cards...now why they couldn't have let us do that when we arrived so that when 2pm came all they would have needed to do would be to issue us with our room card???
Also...the drinks are quite expensive in here....£5 for a wine and lemonade!
If you are on a budget then Liverpool has a Formula1 hotel - a chain known across Europe for the budget conscious.
Next door is the Ibis Hotel which is slightly dearer and a few more yards down the road for those on a shoestring is the youth Hostel.
Unique Quality: Despite its cheap price - just under ?24 (price correct 2003) - Formula1 does have a handy location being just across the road from the Albert Dock.
Directions: Across the road from Albert Dock
Hi there,
I'm going to be taking my daughter and three of her friends to the carling academy in april, and wonder where is the nearest and best hotel to stay in within walking distance. I've looked on all the accomodation websites, and now my head is spinning!!
My daughter is 14 and her friends are 15.
Thanks
The closest I found using "wwww.viamichelin.com" was:
Ibis Liverpool City Centre
27 Wapping GB - LIVERPOOL L18LY
Distance: 1.2km

The Carling Academy is next to Lime Street station, and very central. There's a Holiday Inn opposite: I'd aim for that, personally. http://www.visitnorthwest.com/liverpool/holiday-inn.htm
There is a hotel right across the street called The Liner.
Don't stay in the Adelphi whatever you do, it was fabulous once but the service and cleanliness leave a lot to be desired these days.
Which Carling Academy ?, there are two.
There is the one near Lime Street Station, for which the Liner is nearest, or if it is the main Carling Academy, that is on the university campus, in which case the Feathers is probably nearer ( although the liner is not far away either)
If you are going to see a major act then it is probably the university.
Both of the Academys are fairly central, so you could stay in the holiday inn express at the Albert Dock and get a cab which would'nt cost much.
I agree with the previous reply. Dont stay at the Adelphi, it is a total shed
