Final View From Radio City
by steventilly
The Catholic Cathedral stands only about 3/4 of a mile from the Anglican one. When initially planned it was to be an immense structure to rival St. Peters in Rome, but those plans never materialised and the more modest structure that stands now was completed in 1967. It is affectionately (and irreverantly) known as 'Paddy's Wigwam' to the locals.

Favorite Pubs - II
by yooperprof about Lion Tavern, Moorfields
Total time machine! Beautifully maintained (and restored?) early 20th century pub in central Liverpool - excellent ales on tap, too. I had a really nice Adnams Ale here on a quiet Sunday afternoon. It felt as if they'd opened the pub just for me. This award-winning tavern is one of Liverpool's treasures.
Tradition never tasted so good!

Ferries link Birkenheard and Wallasey. Merseyrail offer an excellent service around the city itself and a quick link to other locations such as Chester (City and Zoo), Southport (Seaside resort, beach, fair, gardens, good shopping) and also to the mainline station and airport.
Buses are frequent and inexpensive, taxis plentiful.
