Ferry to Dublin

by bmajor98

I will be in Liverpool at the end of August. I was thinking of visiting Dublin. Are there ferries from Liverpool to Dublin and how expensive are they for one person no car? How long would the trip take? I'd probably only have time for a one day city tour. Thanks in advance.

FERRIES

I hope these will be of some use. I had a lot of trouble finding out about ferries before leaving home (was easy when I was in Ireland)

I am fairly sure there are ferries to and from Liverpool...

We have been from Wales and France by ferry ...not Liverpool though

The crossing from Liverpool is about 7.5 hours, so you'd be looking at having to take an overnight sailing really. The only companies that go from Liverpool that I know of are Norfolk Lines (www.norfolkline.com) and P&O Irish Sea (www.poirishsea.com).

From memory, I'm not sure that P&O take foot passengers but you can check the website. Norfolk do take foot passengers but if you sail overnight it will bump up your fare as you'll need to book a cabin - check the website for exact fares for your dates.

Is there a particular reason for you taking the ferry? If not, it'll be quicker to fly from Liverpool - and cheaper as Ryanair have a sale on at the moment: www.ryanair.com

Just another note, the Liverpool ferry, dosent actually leave Liverpool.
Its across the River in Birkenhead.
If you only have a day defo go the ryanair option, flights without baggage can be done for as litte as 2p as long as you check in on line.

You can reach liverpool airport for £2.00 by train (with a connecting bus).

You could try flying with Ryanair. Some dates in August are currently only £30 return (including taxes, on-line check-in and other charges) return. Bus 300 goes from L'pool centre to the airport. Good luck.

Travel Tips for Liverpool

If you can get tickets...

by kop-queen

Take in the unique atmosphere of Anfield if you can get tickets. You'll be hooked for life. You can also take a tour of the clubs museum for a small fee (not on match days) and see the many trophies that the club has won including those very special 5 European Cups.

Forget Goodison! The people!

Mersey Docks and Harbour Building

by sandysmith

The third Liverpool Grace and also an elegant building - symmetrical in the style of a renaissance palace with cupola topped towers at the corners and in the centre a large classical dome, topping a high drum. It is has been suggested that the design for this was borrowed from a competition design for the Anglican Cathedral competition by Professor Reilly in 1902. The interior is also well worth a visit.

No tickets??

by William1982

If you can't get a ticket (possible these days at Everton) go to Evertons Official pre/post match headquarters, the Winslow Hotel/ pub, right outside Goodison Park on Goodison Road. And if you know your history..........

A pyramid in Liverpool??

by sandysmith

Yes Liverpool has a little pyramid too.
An addicted gambler by the name of Mckenzie wished to be buried standing up with his winning card hand still in situ - hence this strange memorial!
Address: Rodney Street - St Andrews church grounds
Directions: not far from the Roman Catholic cathedral
