Decent Scouse in Liverpool city centre?

by JoelWillTravel

From one Liverpool VTer to all the other Liverpool VTers out there!

I have some friends coming to Liverpool and wanted them to try real Scouse. Does anyone know of anywhere in Town that does good scouse at a reasonable price? I've been racking my brains trying to think of somewhere but all that seems to be in Town these days is big chain restaurants.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Joel

Apparently there is a good place on Bold Street, sadly I dont know the name (all I've been told is 'it sounds corny'!)
Perhaps take a stroll up there and see what you find!

DAO,

Thanks for your really unhelpful post. If I was going to cook for them I wouldn't be posting on this site, and no I do not want bubble and squeak either. These are VT members and I did not plan on taking them to my house. These forums are supposed to be about helping people and your reply was of no help to anyone. I suggest you only reply to postings in the forums when you can provide some useful and helpful information to other VT members.

Thank you

Try Maggie May's Cafe in Bold St, or any of those small local cafe's that do bacon buttie fry-ups with black puddin's.

Best of luck

Assuming they haven't already been and left try "The Pumphouse" pub by the Albert Dock. True, its pub, but they do a really decent scouse with plenty of fresh rolls and beetroot to go with it. Yum!
The price is quite reasonable at only 5 or 6 pounds each and
you'll also be able to admire the wonderful views of the Pier Head as well.

Travel Tips for Liverpool

Anfield

by CandS

This is a photo of the front gates of the Anfield stadium...the home of Liverpool Football Club... Imagine the stress when we found these gates closed on our arrival...argh! ;) Luckily the next set of gates were open...

Atmospheric Footy!

In my experience, Premiership matches despite having much bigger attendances, often lack the atmosphere and passion of lower league affairs. This can't be said for Anfield however, where Liverpool fans make their voices heard! The set up of the ground is excellent, and you feel really close to the action, all around the stadium. The team play in the Champions League most seasons, so whether it's league or Europe, if you're lucky enough to catch a game here, then it's sure to be a quality affair... Espescially if it's against Utd! Sorry, couldn't resist.

Visit Caernarfon Castle.

Visit Caernarfon Castle.

This beautiful castle was built by Edward I in 1283. In 1284 it was the birthplace of its new English prince - Edward II. According to legend Edward I showed the baby prince to the Welsh announcing that it was 'the native born prince who could speak no English'. Caernarfon castle is actually the nearest Wales has to a royal palace, it has been owned continuously by the Crown since it was established in 1283 by Edward I. The great castle walls are modelled on the walls of Constantinople. In July 1969 it was the setting of the Investiture of HRH Prince Charles as Prince of Wales as it had been in 1911 for Prince Edward. This castle is also a World Heritage Listed Site.

Sooooo Cool

by SapineKuu about Korova

Korova is one of the coolest clubs in Liverpool. If it sounds familiar well it takes its name from the milk bar in Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Fortunately its drinks don't tend to lead to the same behaviour. Come here to listen and dance to indie, electro and other beats. Korova has top DJ's and live music. Best on Friday nights. 9.00 - 4.00am Cool does it
