theatre & (gay)dance

by mtillaart

1- I'd like to know where you can dance best in Liverpool.
Gay hotspots preferred, but not necessarily so.
2- And what would the best theatre be, going to a play/ballet
'off the beaten track'.
> Thanks for answering my questions. Marcel

Re: theatre & (gay)dance

Garlands in liverpool is a superclub, is promoted as a gay club but its popularity has brought it back to the mainstream a bit, but still very much Gayproud and gay freindly. As a straight bloke I cant help you any further there is a place called the gbar but I've never been to comment sorry.
You cant go wrong with garlands though.

Travel Tips for Liverpool

THREE GRACES OF WATERFRONT

by Andrew_Liu

They say there are 3 graces in Liverpool: Liver Building, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Builsing. They are vary noticeable building of waterfront scene and the most is Liver building.
They say many years ago, Livers, a kind of birds, stayed on a pool here – the name “Liverpool” is from it. Today people carved a liver, over Liver Building, flying in the sky.

Participate in the "Shortest Skirt Contest"!

by King_Golo

The thing that confused and amazed me most in Liverpool is that women when going out wear the shortest skirts you can think of. It must have been like 3°C when we were there, yet close to 100% of English women on their way to or from the pubs wore skirts that barely hid their underwear. Furthermore, they wear probably the highest pumps and the shortest tops. Some of the men seem to participate in this "short clothes contest at close to 0°C" as well - although they at least wear jeans...
No offense to you English women - but is it really worth doing this? Especially if you're drunk anyway? ;)

St. Luke's Catherdal

by sticki

It sits right in the middle of a busy interection at the top of Bold Street, but I don't think people hardly stop to appreciate it. It was bombed out during the Blitz in May of 1941, taking off the roof and blowing out the windows. There is now a park built around it, but the inside has been left to revert to nature, so massive trees have grown between the pews and now stretch out the windows. It's really beautiful, and is one of my fondest memories of Liverpool.

Church Street and around

by King_Golo about several

Church Street and around are Liverpool's main shopping streets. Here, you'll find the bigger and more well-known stores ranging from H&M to BH's. In between, other essential stuff (such as books) can be purchased as well...
I bought two polo shirts somewhere on Church Street - the prices were reasonable. Clothes Compared with German prices, slightly above average. In contrast to the shops on Bold Street, I didn't see any student's discounts here (but perhaps you just have to ask...)

500 bus from Liverpool airport

by Smutzie

A cheap way to get from Liverpool airport to the City Centre is the 500 bus. It stops right outside the airport door and will take you to Lime Street Station, Norton St (the National Express coach station) and Queen Square (right in the heart of the city centre) It runs approx every half hour, starting at 5:15 am straight through to 22:05. It costs about £2. The buses are usually well lit and clean.
