Depends on what day you want to travel, but probably the cheapest way to get from London to Liverpool is on the Megabus, which often have fares for as cheap as £1.00 each way. Details at www.megabus.com

To get to Anfield from Liverpool city centre either take the number 26 or 27 bus from Paradise Street Bus station or a 17 or 217 from Queens Square. Alternatively take the Merseyrail underground Northern line from Central Station or Moorfields Station and get on any train going to either Southport, Kirkby Or Ormskirk. Get off the train and Sandhills and the soccerbus meets the train. When you purchase your train ticket, make sure to ask for a ticket to Anfield as this will then cover you for the soccerbus.

Yes it could also be worth trying National Express Coaches. They have Fun Fares that also start at 1 pound but you need to book in advance. http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/offers/funfares.cfm

Travel Tips for Liverpool

Visit the Beatles Museum at...

by i.morris

Visit the Beatles Museum at the Albert Dock.
The Beatles Museum allows you to step back in time to the 1960's and walk through the Beatles lives surrounded always by the thumping beat of Beatles Music. Walk into their Agents Office, sit in a recreated cavern, raise the periscope in the Yellow Submarine. One mind blowing experience after another is bound to thrill you, or bring your own memories flooding back.

St Georges Hall

by sandysmith

St George's Hall, built in 1854, is one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world. Built originally for use as a concert hall with adjoining court rooms. Its famous minton tiled floor is rarely on show - its kept under wraps for protection.
Today it provides the city of Liverpool with the most magnificent conference and events venue.
The Hall has beeny under wraps for a major overhaul - John Lennon wass gracing it with his portrait! - but now it is almost finished and is visible again . Check the website for a virtual tour of what can be seen.

Take a walk along the Prom

by Emmjai

There is a wonderful walk along the river Mersey, starting at the Albert Dock, and wending inland. I've walked about 3 or so miles of it, but I didn't get to the end! There are several watering holes along the way too!

Mad stuff for the fashionistas

by sourbugger about Vivenne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood opened a boutique in Matthew street in 2003.

The store is said to have the flavour of a Hollywood film set - although I must admit it was lost on me.

For a cutting edge clothing design company - her frocks have always shocked - it seems a pity (in a way) that the new shop has been sited on a street that wallows in the 1960's. I would have though such a company would want a much more avant-garde location.

On the other hand, a company must make money where is can and Westwood was a vital part of the 60's culture that for a few years made Britain the trendiest (or grooviest man) place on planet earth. Love those Tartan miniskirts every time A fortune

Aussie Bar

by sandysmith about Walkabout

Haven't personally sampled the nightlife in Liverpool but there are many clubs available.
The cafe culture seems to be growing too.
Have noticed many squares being developed with cafes and clubs, especially off Bold Steet area like Concert Street.
Here there is an Aussie bar called Walkabout that looked intriguing...so if any of you Aussie VT'ers make it over heere and try out this place, let us know what its like ;-)

Even the menu had Aussie options:

Kangaroo fillet, marinated in Australian Western deser seasoning and

Crocodile fillet seasoned with lemon myrtle and macadamia spices were just two of the dishes that caught my eye.
