Travelling to LIPA (to stay)
by nuppe
My daughter is actually attending LIPA to dance for three years. I know this is not the place to search for this kind of accomodation, but could anybody help me pointing out what areas it might be possible/practical (and reasonable) to live while attending the LIPA schhol?

Congratulations to your daughter. I don't have the answers you want unfortunately but I can tell you that Liverpool has a huge student population and a lot of different types of accommodation. Buses are frequent in and out of the city centre. Like anywhere, the more popular areas tend to be the more expensive. Have confidence in the student services as I believe they are very good. If you let me know some of the options I can run them by a couple of friends who will know better.
hope this is some help

One area I know students like is Aigburth, it borders leafy suburbs and inner city areas with lower quality housing, therefore usually an affordable compromise.

Thank you for greetings and help! This is for sure a start. We might come back in a later stage.
Happy Easter!
Travel Tips for Liverpool
THEM IRISH ;)
by sabsi
Bigs and I were sitting at the gate waiting for our plane back to Cologne. At the next gate there was the boarding for the Ryanair flight to Dublin going on.
After some time there came the announcement "This is the last and final call for all passengers booked on Ryanair flight to Dublin blaaaaah". Two people came running towards the gate. We thought "Haha, the Irish are late as usual" ;-)
After 2 minutes there was the announcement again, the voice sounded a bit more impatient though "If you don't come to the gate the plane will leave without you and your luggage will be unloaded from the plane". This time one guy with lots of shopping bags came.
After two more minutes the same announcement again. Nothing happened. Another announcement. Yet another announcement. Suddenly at least 20 or 30 people came running towards the gate. All the people waiting for our plane (all in time ... call it German efficiency) died laughing already.
There were a few more announcement and with every one of them there were more people coming. Finally everybody was there and the plane could take off. I bet when they announced the final (yeah! right!) call for the first time there was only the pilots and stewardesses on board.
Maybe they should cheat with departure times for planes to Ireland and announce a time which is half an hour earlier than the actual time of departure. Like this even the Irish people would have a chance to be on time maybe ;)
I have a reason for this theory by the way. I travelled with an Irishman by plane twice. Both times we had to run to the plane, something which never happened to me travelling on my own or with other nationalities ;-)
The Liver Birds
by sandysmith
The liver birds are a strange cross between an eagle and a cormorant - the sailor's lucky bird. Local tales relate that the female looks across the riverfront waiting for the sailors to return whilst the male faces the back looking towards the pubs!
If you enjoy this kind of info then you need to take the river cruise trip on the ferry!
Soccer
by orlikins
if you can get a ticket, head out to Anfield for a soccer match, when Liverpool are playing at home.
In Ireland you can book a soccer weekend to Liverpool, which includes accomodation, flights and tickets from a Sports travel agency in Dublin.
Yellow Submarine
by orlikins
The Yellow Submarine on the Strand road, across the street from Albert Docks! :) It's mad! :)
Also, the Lambanana. Thats so weird. Imagine, if you will, a yellow lamb with the arse of a banana.
Slater St
by orlikins about Various
Loads of bars on Slater St and Matthew St.
Scousers are well into their clubbing - everyone has heard of Cream nightclub. However that kind of music just aint my bag, baby. For Cream? As little as possible if you're a girl. Blokes should apply _at least_ half a tube of hair gel on their head.
