Travelodge Liverpool Docks: Premier Travel Inn (Albert Dock)

Popular hotel in the heart of the city's rejuvenated Albert Dock area. I often stay in Premier Travel Inns around the country and the buildings are usually clean and modern, but not exactly interesting. This one appears to be a former dockside warehouse that has been renovated. The enormous room was a bit of a walk from reception (not always a bad thing given the comings and goings there) but had a nice view over the docks. We could see both cities cathedrals. The hotel seems popular with visiting football fans. Liverpool were playing at home the day we stayed so every other guest seemed to be wearing football colours. No problems with noise or rowdiness though. The only downside was the one man working at the bar seemed rather overwhelmed. We also ordered food to take back to the room was a disaster. After waiting 90 minutes for a pizza (no room service) we finally got it. On returning to the room we found it to be unedible. We went back and asked for another one. Had to wait another hour but at least it was edible. Would not bother with the food service in future. Around the hotel has some interesting museums and sights during the daytime. At night though the only things in the dock area are a few rather posh looking bars and restaurants. The city centre is not too far though.
