What is the best way to travel from John Lennon airport to Lime street?

by smiling_sml

I am going to Liverpool John Lennon airport on Sunday. I could not figure out what is the best way without changing wehicles to get to the Lime street railway station.

I would be grateful for your advice.

Anita

There is a bus from the Airport to Garston station - about two miles. Take a train into Liverpool but get off at Moorfields and then change for Lime Street. You cannot do the journey without changes.
There is a bus directly in to Liverpool centre but I do not know if it stops near Lime Street.

This is a better option than my idea to use the train.
Liverpool City Centre - Liverpool John Lennon Airport (500 - Arriva) Lime St Station - Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Operates at 00, 30 minutes past the hour, returning from Liverpool John Lennon Airport at 15, 45 minutes past the hour. Journey time: 45 minutes.
If you have baggage this is easier than the train.

There is a direct coach link between JL Airport and Lime St Stn. They run every 30 mins and the fare is about £2. The trip is about 30 mins.
Meet the coach outside the terminal at the coach stop.

Travel Tips for Liverpool

Ferry across the Mersey

by orlikins

Get the ferry cross the Mersey! :) There is a pier tour every hour which costs about £4.50 with a commentary about Liverpool's history and the development of the docks and the neighbouring town of Birkenhead across the river from Liverpool.
When I was on the ferry, there was a film crew on board for Liverpool tourism, so you might see me in the background with the baseball cap surrounding by 3 screeching kids (they're not with me!) Look at that view :) Taken from the back of the Mersey Ferry

Anfield

Don't watch football in the kop at Anfield if you support West Ham and they are likely to get beaten 3-0. Not enjoyable. Ear plugs to block out extremely irritating scousers. Blind fold to block out extremely ugly scousers.

A few hours drive from Liverpool and you can be in northern Wales and I really suggest you visit if you have the chance. We went for a two day trip and stopped in Conwy visiting the castle, the smallest house in UK and wandering the town wall. Then we headed off to explore more of Wales. This pic is taken on one of the towers of Conwy Castle.

ANOTHER COMFORTABLE PUB

by sabsi about The Crown

On the way back to the hotel one evening I talked Bigs into having one for the road here as I liked the look of this pub. It has a beautiful ceiling and a very friendly local crowd in here. None I guess. Actually most of the people in here were old guys so this isn't the fanciest place around I guess. It was hard to tell as it was quite quiet the night we were here.

If you are just travelling in for the day, take the train. Parking in the city is expensive, whereas the Merseyrail network is fairly extensive, reasonably priced and trains are usually quite frequent. And you can sample that marvellous scouse accent on every train!
The subway sytem links stations at James Street (for the Albert Dock and Pierhead), Moorfields (for the central business district), Central Station (shopping area) and Lime Street (for Empire Theatre and connections with all main-line trains).
