Kangaroo jumps on the beach!

There are car parks along Marine Drive but at the southern end of the beach you can park on the sands. In fact this is where our son had his very first drive in my husbands car, thought he was in Australia though by doing a few kangaroo jumps! There is a charge for parking on the beach about £2.00.
I sat on the sands watching and took this picture.

War Memorial

The large war memorial is huge - some said too large - when it was consecrated in 1923.
However its a pleasant place to sit and reflect with your memories I think - very apt there are two reflecting pools, one on either side of the memorial.

Southport

Southport has been a tourist resort for over 200 years now. Its Victorian influence has bestowed many graceful buildings on this seaside town. Visit its pier and great shopping facilities and enjoy the traditional seaside kitsch!

Lord Street is the main area for enjoying the shopping and neoclassical buildings.

The new Marine Bridge is now open and is linked to the pier too.
