Amazing sunset
We got to Southport at the end of the afternoon so did not spend a lot of time there but we were lucky enough to witness the most amazing sunset. When the tide goes out the sea seems so far away and you can walk out quite a long way.

The village of Churchtown is home to the Botanic Gardens - a pleasant oasis of colour and lovely place for a stroll. They were originally opened in November 1874 by the Southport and Churchtown Botanic Gardens Company, admission was then 4d (4 old pennies) but today its free!
We only spent a few hours here on our way back from the Lake District and as we were hungry and needed to stretch our legs we decided that Southport would fit the bill. We had some scrummy fish and chips and had a good walk along the front before witnessing one of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen.
I am sure this town has more to offer and weill come back here again one day.
